RUMOR: Patriots and Judon not close on deal

If the defense didn't play so well last season especially down the stretch then Judon would have more leverage. But fact is they played well without him.. so unfortunately that's on tape for wolf to see.. I read that patriots have an offer on the table for him..
Yep and he declined it.

Judon is in a tough spot because he doesn't have many landing spots. He's not a hand in the dirt DE, isn't the best edge setter against the run and can't cover ground as a 4-3 OLB. As we've seen before, he's terrible in space. Pittsburgh already has two OLB's paid, but LA Rams, Bucs and going back to Baltimore are his only possibilities who run a 3-4. Baltimore should be on the phones today as they are putrid along the edge and won't have a chance against KC without a presence there. I think Judon will eventually realize this and play on his final year, but he'll leave in 2024 FA.

Well.. what do you believe he's looking for?
Haven't the foggiest.

At a minimum, I assume he wants this year's $6.5m fully guaranteed or as a bonus.

It was reported the NEP offered him an extension and he rejected it. I'm guessing the extension had some guarantees but a good chunk of it was incentive-based.

A Third Rounder wouldn't be a bad haul especially if the wheels fall off our season early. A contending Team won't pass on this Sack master. That said I think we Resign him he means too much our current Defense.

Perhaps but we’ll see, its not just his production but his leadership is key. For all our struggles the locker room seems to be in a good place and guys are wanting to stick around. Judon’s the type of guy id like to keep around as long as i can as long as his salary isn’t hurting us too bad.

Love the player and what he brings to this team. Hard to pick a side on this one without knowing the numbers... I'd love him here for another couple of years (he will be 32 in August). I do think hes worth more than 6.5m / year.... but that is the deal he signed.

Agree. Judon has said he's not going to be a hold our, or hold in. So camp is around the corner well see how true that becomes.

But to your point it feels like a trade is likely..I'd say wirfs is the likely guy we could get.. ?? Definitely don't trade him to the AFC at All.
Avoiding the AFC is a sound strategy if you’re going to make the playoffs. I don’t see NE contending for glory this winter. If an AFC team makes a good offer, I’d jump !

I agree. The NFL is never a guarantee. Teams that are projected to win sometimes don't, Teams like us that many aren't expecting much are the Teams that can break through. However if your a team with any kind of competitive spirit you never trade your best player within your own conference or division.

There's low value in making a trade now. Best off waiting until the deadline. Some condender is either going to lose a guy to injury, or convince itself that it is one edge away from a Super Bowl. Look how much the Niners gave up for 10 weeks of Chase Young.

That's a month old tweet, but I believe he'll show up and be a player this year.

Yep, it is indeed a month old tweet. It is however worth noting that Judon himself has said nothing himself to show that anything has changed. McKenna isn't reporting anything coming from Judon himself just the usual "according to sources" catch-all as a source for what amounts to clickbait.

I have no idea how far apart Judon and the Pats are and I doubt McKenna does either. What I do know is our @man_damn9 Judon isn't shy about tweeting where his head is at. I'll believe there's a huge gulf between where Judon and the Pats are at when Judon or the Pats say there is. Anything else is just speculative BS.

Oh ok.. well Judon's already Said he's not for holding in/out. He's a class act a team leader. He's still needed on the team. I think he likely ends up taking the contract?

At no point did I say Judon for either Wirfs or Darrishaw straight up.. Seriously people. Use your brains.

Back in February I said Judon was going to want more money and you said I was pulling that out of my ass. To be fair, you said rear. Now you're saying if he does want more money and we can't get close you want to trade him? For what compensation? You convinced me we'd get a 5th for him. You think they'd actually swap good, young players?
Feel free to link that.

I with you minus Judon this is not a very good Defense it would be just ok. Josh Uche couldn't even sniff the QB after Juduon went down what does that tell you?? We need the Defense with Judon to keep us in games if our Offense is competent.
Considering what the defense did last year without Judon AND Gonzalez, it's actually a good one. If you gave White the snaps that normally were going to Judon, I think that the defense would be excellent with Gonzalez on the field. But I seem to have higher opinions of the defense than most "fans".

If you're going to claim I said something, you should probably actually LINK it.

"Would you trade Judon?"

Dabruinz said:
Judon is not the "highest paid" player on the team. That 14.6M is his Cap number. His salary is 6.5M which is a pittance.

How do you know what Judon is going to want? You don't. You're pulling it out of your rear end.

You aren't "biting the bullet". You're taking your best playing on defense and jettisoning him just because and you aren't going to get nearly the return you think.. Definitely NOT a 3rd round pick because, as you said. He's coming off a season ending injury. You'll be lucky to get a 5th round for him..

Re-signing Jennings is a given and his playing time has nothing to do with Judon.
"

I asked you how you knew what Judon was going to want. You had no answer then and you have no answer now. If all he wants is to guarantee his Salary and the 1M in per game bonuses, that's not more money. Claiming he was going to want more money when he was coming off a season injury and the fact he's 32 IS pulling it out of your rear end.

Furthermore, I don't believe you would get more than a 5th. Which is why I would expect them to trade a a pick with him if they were going after someone like Wirfs or Darrishaw..

OH. BTW. For the people not paying attention. Neither Minnesota nor Tampa exactly have a lot of projected money available for 2025. Trading those guys who are both going to be FAs when you don't really have Cap Space is getting something for the asset. Just like you were saying to get for Judon.
