According to this SI article (click the SI Article), the Patriots and Judon are not close on a deal. IF (Big IF) this is true, I would be on the horn with Minnesota or Tampa to try and swing a deal between the teams to bring either Darrishaw or Wirfs to the team while sending Judon to them.

I wouldn't look at trade Judon otherwise.

Back in February I said Judon was going to want more money and you said I was pulling that out of my ass. To be fair, you said rear. Now you're saying if he does want more money and we can't get close you want to trade him? For what compensation? You convinced me we'd get a 5th for him. You think they'd actually swap good, young players?

I'm not sure how anyone could possibly argue against your statement of him wanting more money. He's been the most underpaid edge rusher in the NFL the last two seasons. I've also been saying for a while he's not going to want to keep playing for his current salary when many mediocre players are getting more than him. In fact, he's making less than a quite a few players on his own team. That's not good.

Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, LA Rams, and most importantly Baltimore should be calling to get Judon. Unless he holds out or "holds in", I wouldn't take anything less than a 4th round pick. It's looking like he's going to be traded soon and this would be a massive hit to the defense.

I'd trade Judon for Darrisaw in a heartbeat, but Minny won't do that and Tampa won't trade Wirfs. They're not trading a starting tackle in their prime for a 32 year old OLB. Neither team is hard up for cap space, why would they? They could extend both these players and trade a later round pick for Judon and afford them both. The only way this happens is if these players want out.

The Patriots are probably allowing both Judon's and Godchaux's agents to sniff around to see what they could get in a contract after a trade, this late in the season and given both players age they might find there isn't a lot of money out there to be had, then they'll have to crawl back and take the Pat's offer which should be the best. Currently the Patriots rank #1 in the entire in cap space, according to OTC they sit 44 million dollars above the cap, the next four teams average 34-37 million... they have cap space coming out their ears.

You drive real hard bargain lower the bar please you want a 25 year old Left Tackle for Judon. Read my lips not going to happen.

I'm with you minus Judon this is not a very good Defense it would be just ok. Josh Uche couldn't even sniff the QB after Juduon went down what does that tell you?? We need the Defense with Judon to keep us in games if our Offense is competent.

I like Judon. He's probably the best skill position player on this team right now.

That said, he's on the wrong side of 30 and I wouldn't mind if the Pats moved on from him and drafted someone younger. If he can find someone who will pay him next year, more power to him. He wouldn't be the first player to leave a team to take more money elsewhere. Plus maybe he can go someplace where he won't have to pay MA's crazy millionaire's tax.

Several months ago I mentioned that trading *anyone* over thirty, including Judon, should be considered and you went ballistic...

I would take a 2nd for him but anything less and you might as well just ride the year out with him and see what happens when he hits FA.
Yep and they could possibly get a comp pick for him if he signs elsewhere in 2025.

.....or they trade him during the year to a contender and get the same/better pick in trade.

Agree. Judon has said he's not going to be a hold our, or hold in. So camp is around the corner well see how true that becomes.

But to your point it feels like a trade is likely..I'd say wirfs is the likely guy we could get.. ?? Definitely don't trade him to the AFC at All.

If the defense didn't play so well last season especially down the stretch then Judon would have more leverage. But fact is they played well without him.. so unfortunately that's on tape for wolf to see.. I read that patriots have an offer on the table for him..

Zero chance that happens unless we add at least one first round pick.

I like Judon, though he tends to disappear when it matters. He's also better than some 4th or 5th round pick. I'd let him see what's out there and match it if it makes sense.

Diggs went for a 2nd?.. and he's a top 5 WR..
Diggs is a known head case, will turn 31 during the season, makes a ton of money, and his production declined somewhat last year. Wirfs and Darrisaw and both 25 years old and franchise tackles at a time when there seem to be fewer franchise tackles than ever.

Right, especially if the 2025 fa approach is like this year. Premium players at the positions we really need rarely hit fa so if we are mostly resigning our own that comp pick could very well wind up a 3rd/4th anyway and you got another year out of him.

He could also hit fa and find no suitors for someone turning 33 prior to that season and wind up back here at a reasonable rate. He seems to like it here, for whatever reason lol

A report did say they’re trending in the right direction for an extension even though they’re not close at the moment.

A Third Rounder wouldn't be a bad haul especially if the wheels fall off our season early. A contending Team won't pass on this Sack master. That said I think we Resign him he means too much our current Defense.
