Dungy visits Pats OTA’s

He hated BB. The condescension was palpable.

Dungy was an excellent, HOF player, an average coach and a sanctimonious SOB any other time.
Dungy said that Bill was always super nice to him and would help Dungy any way he could... off the field. During the game or immediately after it, Bill was out for blood.

Dungy is a complete hypocrite. The Colts pumped in fake noise and whined about the Pats DB's while he was there. I think both BB and TB12 have their own reasons to hate him.

What makes Dungy insufferable is that he’ll play semantics with DB/WR illegal contact changes. People on social media will say “You got the rules changed because your offense couldn’t deal with the way your receivers were covered.” Dungy will respond with “You don’t know what you’re talking about, no rules were changed.”

Technically, he’s correct. The league didn’t implement a new rule, but put an emphasis on the existing rule about contact with a receiver beyond 5 yards. The point that Dungy tries to weasel out of is that the game was officiated differently after the Colts leadership complained. He tries to pretend that that didn’t happen.

Being well into my 7th decade on this planet, whenever anyone puts their religion as the lead in defining who they are, I'm quickly cynical about their authenticity as a human being.

His GM got the rules changed when he cried to the league.

Geez fellas... Dungy was the competition at one point... so I get the hate.

And I do agree about the religion on his sleeve attitude is a bit much... after all this is still a game... played on Sunday after church.

Dungy got screwed out of his Tampa superbowl as mentioned above....

He had a child commit suicide...

He had to work with the GM of indy...

He had to watch The pats steam roll him for many years.

The fact that he's helping at otas speaks more to his character than ours for dogging him out...

10 consecutive seasons making it to the playoffs is no easy task.... especially when the Pats were absolutely the best team in the league for two decades.

Some have claimed Dungy’s role as a father (including the heavy emphasis he places on his religion) was a contributing factor in his son’s suicide.

That would be a heavy burden to bear... and I'm sure he questions that and probably sleeps like ****.

I don't expect love for him... but I was surprised by the amount of hate...

Being rational on a football forum... isn't always a popular opine.

The man won a championship as a player and a coach. That's a pretty rare feat.
