Mac Not Happy With the Groceries

I don't know how Zappe will play, Mac is the worst QB in football... it's can't get much worse.

I didn't say start Zappe anyway, let the coaches decide.... Zappe or Grier. I don't care who.... anyone but Mac.
I’m ok with giving Grier a shot. Zappe no thanks saw enough of that don’t need to see more.

Yeah but you haven't provided any reason for why Baker is better. \
Because he's not a wimp. Because he's not skittish. Because he doesn't cower. Because he steps up in the pocket. Because he doesn't cry when he sprains his ankle. Because he doesn't repeatedly throw off his back foot. Because he's not a pick-6 machine, or fumble for TD machine.

We're talking about the perpetually pathetic Cleveland Browns. Coached by people who never had any success as HCs in the NFL. To compare their ineptitude to the situation here is irrelevant. We're comparing players: Mayfield to Mac Jones right now.

Baker Mayfield sucks. But he's better than Scott Secules.
No NFL fan at the time would say talent was the issue on the Browns. This is getting tiresome.

Look at that last play.

If Mac is setting up there, Brown is never going to get a hand on an edge rusher that deep.

I already acknowledged he made bad plays yesterday

I don't hold the last one against him.

I would maybe blame O'Brien there, but I think O'Brien too is by now really sick of our 3-5 step drop plays. We are severely limited here.

For me, this is a perfect example of putting an OL in a horrible position, then blaming it on them. I've seen this repeatedly in college where OLs seem not to be doing their job, but it's the QB who is inexperienced (it's college!!) and who doesn't know how to set up his pocket.

I don't want Zappe to start because I think he gives the team even less of a chance to win games, but I do recognize he steps into the pocket, sets his feet, seems calm, not jittery, and he doesn't throw off his back foot. If only he could throw the ball!

Whatever Mac did or didn't do, Brown made zero effort to even slow down Granderson. He just patted him. Didn't even try to engage him.

Sorry, but Brown was not put in a bad position. He knew who was supposed block. It wasn't like someone screwed up the line blocking assignments. He did his hands on Granderson and could easily moved one or two steps outside to get Granderson. He just didn't care or misjudged Granderson's route to the backfield. Brown was flat footed when he moved. That was 100% on Brown.

Brown has had games where he played well and others when he was bad. Yesterday, he was absolute garbage. Totally gave up.

That said. I am not giving him any blame on a lot of Mac's worst plays.

Dante Scarnecchia rolled over in his grave watching that film, and he isn't even dead yet. Atrocious.

This is exactly how I expected you to respond. Very little substance. All feelings.

For everything you said, there's noting in the outcomes to say Baker is better or would improve this team. This would be the worst offense Baker ever played in and he's struggled to get wins in much better offenses.

Zappe was so bad in training camp they cut his ass. Mac hasn’t been good, but his surrounding cast is the far bigger issue.
Yet, he has come in to sub for Mac in 2 straight games. He also may get the start vs Vegas this weekend.

I hope to Gawd that Grier gets a shot just so the people who think he's some hidden gem will skink back under whatever rock they.crawled out from under.

We're talking about the last play where Grandeson rushes straight down the field? Or the earlier play where he does a stunt? I already mentioned the earlier play in the my first response.

Brown is never getting to him on the last play. Never.

Issue is Andrews might still be from an era that respects Bill and experienced the dynasty on some level. I am more curious what the newer players say and think.
Andrews isn’t saying anything revolutionary… turnovers are the most important stat besides points.

Yes. But #1 was turnovers.

What are you even defending? I'll give you the first pick and the piss poor toss to Stevenson. The 2nd pic was basically a fumble from Ty Montgomery who caught the ball but had it knocked away.

So take away those 2 turnovers. We are still losing the game with any other QB.

The roster is so bad everything needs to be perfect to win. 0 turnovers, run game needs over 5ypc because our receivers can't beat man coverage and defense needs to keep the other team under 20.

Mac is bad. But the roster is untalented and poorly constructed. Even if the OL blocked better and we could run the ball we are still struggling to beat any of these teams. We need horses yet have barely ponys. It's the same offense since 2019. Beat sisters of the poor. But come up against a good team we will lose.

It's just this year has a total breakdown. Of OL, receivers, RBs, and the QB isn't someone who has the talent to make something out of nothing.

Patricia and Judge have both been NFL head coach’s. They might not be offensive masterminds but I’d hardly call their coaching room a clown show.
Patricia and Judge have both been HCs of terrible teams and their records prove it. They were so bad that their previous teams sent them packing while still paying them. And of course Bill decides to take them on while they're being paid by another team. Btw, one of those bozos is still here.

Last year and this year define the term clown show, and it all started with the stupidity of dropping talented players while picking up scraps with both players and coaches. The proof is in the pudding.

Improve maybe. Immensely? No definitely no
If Zappe or Grier plays great, plays mistake free…. immense improvement.

They’re near dead last in offense, it can’t get any worse.

I am not sure which play you are talking about. But the three plays I posted were 100% on Brown. Sorry, I don't remember the play specifically that you are talking about.

Once again. No one is arguing Mac isn't a problem.

People are arguing the dumb idea that the rest of the roster is actually good.

Admitting the roster is bad does not = defending Mac Jones.
Mac has been the single worst QB in football the last two games. Mac has sucked.

Arguing he should continue starting is defending Mac.

Yup.

Like I said yesterday if the team gets their doors blown off for the 3rd straight game it will be the end of the line for BB in NE. I think this team on paper is better than it was in 2020 and they seem much worse. That’s on the coaching.
Or they‘ve got an amateur chef in the QB room feeding everybody fugu.
