Ha. Let the speculation begin about how Josi gets the digits of all of these NFL players…..
A NFL monitored app using a program where all the players are required to give their numbers for NFL and approved media contact.

Let’s go my tight end binkie since he’s been at Penn State.
Now if we only got Jeudy somehow.
I’d settle for OBJ if worse came to worse.
It feels like this is what the teams mentality is,

We had a bad season due to coaching incompetence and bad HC decisions in game and overall.

We have some young guys and unproven players.. We will look to the draft to add a WR and CB we can develop and maximize while under his rookie deal.

We'll continue to watch the unsigned FA to see of we can still add to area's of the team that can help us.

We'll see if we can pull off a draft day trade for WR.. We'll "work" with bill and his staff how things progress..

That's my theory on what is going on in Foxborough front office...

My concern on defense isn't CB or FS....it's DE. Guy is 33, Wise is 29 and who else is there that makes a difference? I'm not sure the Patriots will get an impact DE in FA but I think it's important they get one in the draft.

And to add to that barmore is a force, however he's not dependable as he plays with such fierceness he's always hurt..

That is the draw back of drafting a player injured.. he's had knee issues at Alabama.. guy is still unsigned I heard he was mulling retiring..

So our pressure comes from Judon, Uche, wise, barmore when available, I'd like to get more pressure up the middle.. we definitely need depth at DE

Like Guy as a locker room guy and rotational player. But we need to upgrade there. Also wouldn’t mind A’Shawn Robinson type at Nose to go with godchaux.

Yes Guy is awesome leader he's beloved in the community big humanitarian. Robinson would be a great addition.

The team's still going to add.. they know with a 17 game season they need depth.
If we can have depth guys are fresher in game and during the season..

I don't think Hopkins, OBJ, or Jeudy are coming. I think our skill moves have been made. The rest will be hidden gem pickups in FA or cutdowns, and the draft. I do see a high round TE coming, and probably mid-round WR.

What's interesting is the lack of new blood on D. Maybe the most re-signing FA's on D that BB has ever done.
Basically - it was good last year, let's trust coaching and a couple draft pieces.
All we really need is a legit FS and a stud DT.
(and it's 50/50 that Mills moves to DMac's spot, and the Jones' trio locks down the CB spots)

Moro Ojomo, Kobie Turner or Byron Young (Alabama) All 3 would fit that Wise DL role and are all good at stopping the run and are decent+ at pass rush

Agreed. I would like a splash don’t get me wrong but im fine with this approach. Bellicheck is continuing to build on the base he established in 2021 with the bad contracts (agholor and jonnu) to be off the books completely after this year. We are among the best teams in terms of future cap space according to overthecap each of the next few seasons with a middle of the pack roster hopefully back on the rise now . Then when the time is right make your splash.

I think one of them is.
Kraft was not happy and now having Rodgers in the division.
I think one of Judy or Sutton is coming.

One interesting consideration is Peppers as the FS fill-in. He played his 2nd year with the Browns at FS.
He ran a 4.46 - which is much faster than what DMac has been the last 3 years.
He was coming off a late ACL in 21. So a full season removed, could be more agile.

I agree with this. I think if Hopkins or Jeudy still haven't been traded by the draft they could be a possibility then though.

In free agency I bet they sign a veteran corner and/or a safety. Other than that I don't expect anything until draft time. They managed to fill a lot of their holes so that none of the rookies draft will be relied upon to start. If the rookies grab the job good, but the Pats won't be screwed if they don't.

Something to keep an eye on is all the tackles we've signed.
T. Brown is due $12.5M, but only carries a dead cap hit of $1.25M - that seems primed for a potential dump.
Especially if they draft one of the top LT's. But with Anderson, and even Stueber in the wings from last year... I wouldn't be surprised.

The only player on offense opposing defenses have to game plan for is Stevenson... that needs to change. They better not be done at WR.

OBJ is looking to get $20 million plus and no one is goimg to give him that. he needs to sign a 1 year prove it deal and then if he performs well in 2023 he can set himself up for a big fat contract.

I feel OBJ wants to play for an established QB. If we want to get him we will probably need to overpay to get him.

You're the stats geek, right? (until the posts need to be moved)

Riley Reiff, age 34.8*, 6'6-313 -- 542 snaps / 4 penalties / 3 sacks (2022)
Marcus Cannon, age 34.4*, 6'6-335 -- 208 snaps / 0 penalties / 1 sack (2022)
* at the start of the signed regular season for NE

you can do the math or even watch who was the better run blocker..

Reiff was better, though not by much when it came to run blocking. And that's only part of the game.
Reiff - 2 QB hits and 13 hurries with the 3 sacks. Total of 18 pressures on 293 pass blocking snaps. Or 1 pressure allowed every 16.3 pass blocking snaps.
Cannon - 10 hurries allowed with that 1 sack. Total of 11 pressures on 106 pass blocking snaps. Or 1 pressure every 9.6 snaps.

Last I looked, allowing a pressure every 16.3 snaps is better than every 9.6 snaps.

Yes. I can do the math. .

Calvin Anderson looks to be better than Cajuste and Herron and maybe better than Wynn when it comes to the Swing Tackle position. It will be interesting to see what happens with camp. I am still expecting the Pats to add a LT in the draft unless they decide that they're kicking Strange out there..

I would still have preferred Orlando Brown, Jr. over Reiff and Anderson. But if the Pats were one of the teams viewing him as a RT, then I understand why they didn't bring him in.

Sutton is too expensive for what he brings, imo. If they're not going through the draft and can't find a Jeudy-type, I'd rather have someone like Corey Davis if/when the Jete dump him on a prove it deal (and without costing a draft pick). He's much faster (sub 4.4) and can operate smoothly at the second level.

I know he did little with the Jete, but what else is new for the Jete?
He'd fit well into this offense and give a little more speed over Parker, Bourne, etc. He's also got an attitude like Juju (give me the ball and get the F outa my way!). I think he might be a sneaky good add to the offense the way it's constructed.
