The best-case scenario(s) for Bailey Zappe

So what happens if Mac has a rough camp, maybe gets dinged up, looks like he did at the end of last season not early in the year, and Zappe comes in and just lights it up, looks as good or even better than Mac did last year? Or say Mac gets rolled up on halfway through camp and is out six weeks with a high ankle sprain while Bailey takes over and runs the table until Mac is ready to return? Could lightening strike twice and the incumbent QB lose his job permanently because of temporary injury?
