It was weird how everything changed after the pick. Mac had been comfortable and accurate, line was good, we were gashing them on the ground. Then everything was just different. Reminded me of the jets playoff game in 2010 where we marched right down field, then an errant pass for a pick and the offense completely turtled afterward.
Agree Patsy, was talking about it with my brothers yesterday. I think if we punch it in for a TD, we're looking at a different Mac and a different game. That just seemed to take the air out of the offense for the rest of the half.

Wow, Patriots moments you forgot. Alge Crumpler dropping an uncontested TD.......

Think your assessment is spot on, by the way.

One thing is for sure the reins seem to have been loosened on Mac a lot this year - and this is what you get with a young developing QB.

This is all the culmination of horrible GM work by Belichick the last 5 years or so draft wise, and personnel wise. The Pats have taken ONE explosive WR in the last 5 years. They waited to draft two bust TEs in the worst years for TE drafts, which were sandwiched by great TE draft years (2 excellent ones before, one after).

You watch games and see guys being hugely successful (WR’s & TE’s) for other teams, today’s games are a great example. Players we clamored for year after year, draft after draft. Players Belichick passed up for the usual defensive bust (usually DB’s). Yes the drafting has improved slightly the last 2 years, but the lack of weapons not drafted by Belichick had to be one of the reasons Brady left (plus the cap).

Then this offseason, NOT to bring in an OC after losing McDaniels, was criminal, not to bring in a QB coach is criminal (OC & QB coach could be the same guy). And WHY are they changing an offense that was successful with a rookie QB ? The Pats were #6 in points scored last year, WTF are we doing. You could even see in preseason, Mac looked bad running this NEW offense. They most definitely are going to ruin Mac.

I LOVE Belichick, I love him probably more than most, he’s brought us 20 years of greatness. But it’s obvious he just doesn’t seem to get football of the 2020s (offensively). He doesn’t know how to draft weapons. He doesn’t seem to realize he needs explosiveness on offense. Thornton and Strong are going explosive, but one’s on IR, the other a healthy scratch. The team needs a bright OC with some great offensive ideas, not two former coaches who got fired for their ineptness.

If they go 5-12 or 6-11, he needs to go, and they need a brand new coaching staff.
What makes you think they are going 5 and 12. It's one game, they started out 0 and 2 last year and finished 10 and 7. They are still obviously tinkering. Bourne should hopefully be out of the doghouse by next game. And Mac was playing hurt. Let's not get all overreaction monday.

Maybe both their faults.

Mac didn't look once to his left and adjust protection.

Ferentz and Brown looked to double the end.

Ferentz though set up way back and Brown got caught with a DB blitz from way outside.

If anything, Henry should have chipped him right there since the play was clearly to the right.

Mac never looked left once before or after the snap. So Henry was doing nothing out there.

It was a failure all the way around with Henry, Brown and especially Mac Jones to blame.

I agree. This is where I question the Pats writers. Mac never looked and Henry can easily chip, and Brown has a long way to go and I doubt he gets there. Maybe Brown was wrong, but Mac has to have some awareness when one side is overloaded. Mac can step up and then Brown might get there? Perry says it is a hat-on-hat situation. If Brown has to consistently make that play we are in trouble.

PS the Giants O looked really good yesterday minus the Judge.

I watched it via Redzone........it was largely due to Saquon looking like he's back. And some horrific coverage breakdowns.

Maybe I am missing the reasoning behind these but....

We only had 70 yards total rushing , was it our OLine of the Dolphins defence

Parker played 57 snaps (100%) , 2 Targets , 1 rec , 9 yards
Bourne played 2 snaps , 1 target , 1 rec , 41 yards

Whatever is behind the Bourne spat its not helping the team.

If the guy is wide open which is hardly ever. QBs are a dime dozen who can make that same throw.

If there is a small window where the DB can make a play forget it.
I watched Trubisky fail to make an accurate throw like that multiple times in the Steelers game, if they were a dime a dozen, you would think the steelers would have picked someone else.

In my opinion, not the best look for 4th and 1:

I think we'd need to see more of it. One of those things that you can potentially run multiple plays off (Reverse, Jet Sweep, End Around) and you can dangle on tape as bait.

Interesting:

We won't be competitive playing like that...I hate it when a game is basically over by halftime. A hour and a half of my life I would love to have back.

I don't get the Bourne thing. He was our best receiver last year for a good chunk of the season and now he's in the doghouse.

I don’t think it’s fare to blame a single player for a loss but if there was one that was mostly to blame it was Mac ( of course the QB is mostly to blame for a win or loss). He could have done a much better job of throwing the ball (not forcing it and throwing to the more open player) and also being more aware of what’s happening with the OL.

If we are blaming a coach then it’s BB for not going away from wide-zone earlier in camp / preseason. IMO spending so much time on zone prevented the offense / Mac from gelling better when not playing zone.

That being said….how often did we play wide-zone against the Dolphins.

Edit: I’m also blaming BB for essentially benching Bourne

If they were playing to protect the lead, they would have ran a conservative offense trying to grind out the clock. Two three and outs and a six play drive that nets 4 yards says the opposite. They were trying to score. They were not playing to protect the lead.

And the Agholor fumble was on a good drive by the Patriots (they picked up 57 yards on 5 plays). That drive could have brought them within six points if they completed the drive.
MIA won TOP by 5 minutes. That's substantial.

Your entire arguments are based on if this or if that happened. Well, it didn't happen. Your make belief analysis is weak. Again, MIA controlled the pace of the game. I was at the stadium & there were a sh*t ton of Pats fans all looking dejected by halftime. They mainly remained inside after the half and were the first ones out the door midway through the 4th qtr.

They won't have a chance going forward with the snaps they gave Bourne yesterday. I thought he was Inactive until.
