It's certainly possible you're right, but there's no reason to act so sure about it. It also depends on how much respect Strong garners.

I don't think they'll retire 28 or anything, but whether it was expressly forbidden or not, they tend not to give out the numbers of the really good ones the first year after they retire. No one wore 11 last year, no one wore 87 the year Gronk retired, no one took Bruschi's 54 until Brian Waters three years later, etc. We might see Strong as 28 down the road, but I'd be surprised if anyone has it for 2022.

I totally agree with that unless you plan on using the decimal system. There are many Pats numbers that should come out of retirement. No 12 is not sacred IMO either given that Brady was a traitor.

Even despite the ending, his number should be retired. I definitely agree with Tippett and Hannah being retired.
 
Yes I know. That's with Jones. Most of the time he was not running with the 1st team.
Then that means that Thornton is facing the 2nd team defenses as well.

I ask why isnt Thornton getting more reps with Jones? He is not getting cut, but it will be a huge disappointment if Thornton does not see significant snaps when the real games begin.
