Embrace the hate! Views from other fanbases

He does. Tell you what, you take the blonde, and I'll take the one in the turban.
I was thinking I’d just join him and the three gals, so we can spread the workload. But your idea will work too. I’m just happy to help.

Today’s salt comes from our very own forum with our resident Bills fan, who refuses to believe the tourch has been passed again in the AFC East.

I honestly wasn't very impressed with the Patriots at all.

The Bills got lucky with a fluke punt return fumble facemask, whatever you want to call it.

But it took FIVE dropped passes (two of them touchdowns), a fumble where no-one touched the guy, and a missed field goal, to beat the Bills by 4 points.

I don't know how you come away impressed by that. If literally any one of those didn't happen, the Bills win. Thats a very narrow margin there, and it took a lot.

I know you will all **** on this post, and thats fine. Fans should. But I thought Belichick's coaching last night was downright bad.

Narratives change based on who wins. Not on the actual play. If the Bills got into the endzone at the end, today would be all about how Belichick didn't throw enough, didn't score more than 14 points, blah blah blah.

But the Bills didn't deserve to win. Period. They sucked.

I thought he was a Chiefs fan? Tourch was passed to Majomes after all.

You’re getting the raw end of that deal!

I should have recognized that! That movie was on less than a few weeks ago. One of the best comedies ever.

Level headed responses so far.
This is a reasonable take:

If I was ever looking for proof that Photoshop could actually be the reason for the downfall of all civilization - apparently I just found it. Thanks to Chiefs fan Hammock Parties.

Being able to make a play out-of-structure when things break down is great, but that line of thinking has gone so far that these days it seems like being able to make out-of-structure plays is more important than being able to just play IN-STRUCTURE. I don't know how people have been NFL fans and have watched Tom Brady annihilate the league for 2 decades and somehow have come to the conclusion that "ad-libbing" is the most important thing.
As a college volleyball coach, the greatest two words you ever want to hear is "in system". The reason is simple - fundamentals and role understanding. Players that embrace a systematic, fundamental-based approach both know what they're SUPPOSED to do and have the SKILL and confidence to do it. Those aspects together are almost unbeatable when skill and talent are relatively equal.

Ad-libbing is a good additive skill when you might be out of system to try and get you back into it, but over-reliance on ad-libbing means that there are consistently break downs across other areas of your team which never leads to good outcomes unless you have that single "all-world" talent, but even then smart coaches and players on other teams will simply target the weak area over and over.

The only way you can rely on ad-libbing all the time? Any single player sport - golf, bowling, NASCAR...

I went to a Bills message board today. Looks they hate their own team more than they hate the Pats now.
I had a glance at a Bills board this morning and it was full of deluded nonsense..

"We own the division, this was their Superbowl"

"The refs handed it to them as usual"

"When you're the dominant team, everyone ups their game against you"

"They have better coaches, but player for player, we're far superior"

Etc

Nothing irritates Bills fans more than their team being beaten in a physical match in rough weather. They think of snow games in Buffalo as their home soil, and they like their teams very, very physical, so to be beaten at "their" style of football has them out of joint.

Frankly, I can't blame them. If I thought another team was more professional and in control than the Patriots I'd be irritated too.

I love the logic from the other thread that when a QB has to scramble a lot from the pass play not being there means the team’s “running game” must be good. LOL.

Hope the rest of the Bills fans have more football knowledge than that…

That's actually one of the reasons I respect the Bills fanbase. They're very knowledgeable -- for a fanbase.

They've got their crazies, so do we, but for the most part they're sore because they got beat, and not just that, they got beat at a game that they feel like they should be specializing in. There's a lot of frustration at the GM for not having the team up to snuff in the trench battles on either side of the game. Which is entirely fair and reasonable. And I can't fault them for being angry about red zone execution either In the same situation we'd be calling for heads to roll.

The other 30 fan bases must be feeling pretty good about themselves that they don't have to play the Patriots this week!
