Is anyone still worried about the Bills?

Let me help here. Beating the crap out of someone means physically beating them up. That is what we are all referencing here.. Probably a few too many head to tables for you to grasp that. We all understand the score was close and we didn't "destroy then" or "win in a blowout" we physically "beat the crap out of them. The Patriots usually like playing a physical style of football, and especially now that many teams are built as finesse teams, the Patriots and a few other teams end up causing those finesse teams problems. The Chiefs and Chargers come to mind as teams that can struggle with more of a smash mouth game. We will find out more of where the Bills fall in Monday night, but I will say, that bad weather conditions often dont favor finesse type teams.

LOL, I watched the Bills and Washington Super Bowl when I was your age, but I didn't follow every week that season - or that game - as intently as you and your dad/family members did. Pretty sure you both can tell me more intricate details about that game and that season than I would be able to figure out just looking at the stat sheet, despite the fact that I watched the game.

Needless to say, the point I'm making is our perspectives are completely different. And you're already probably figuring out that at your age now, your perspective in terms of how you view the game now is different from when you were 13. I was in my mid-twenties when that game happened and I was also writing all season about the team that year.

So yes, I do have a different view and perspective of the team that season than you do. So do the vast majority of the people here, who also watched it all unfold week in, and week out. And yes, they do know a little more about that game and that season than you do

And believe me, my understanding is better than yours. They were more physical and kicked the **** out of the Rams in that game, forced turnovers, and that's how they won. If you don't want to see that, it's cool. The ring - and banner - isn't going anywhere. ;)

Yes, a perspective that a FAN of the team would have.

Ok, so help me out. Is arguing about that one game the only point you’re trying to win? Because I’m not really understanding the point of you even bringing it up to begin with…or why we’re even having this conversation?

Someone else brought it up. Not me. I just joined the conversation.

Back to the Monday night game, I have no idea what’s going to happen. I’ve already begun to mentally prepare myself for a loss.

I hope you realize that I can watch the game at any age. It’s right there online. I didn’t just watch it at 13.
I didn’t spot this and just noticed it. So take 2hrs and go watch it, and maybe all of this will finally make some sense to you. And watch the U2 halftime show, it’ll be good for you ;)

Should be a good game. I’m actually annoyed after watching your last game that Josh Allen spends all his free time helping kids in hospitals. Now it’s a little tough to dislike him … which is annnoying. ;)

Just checked Buffalo weather (estimated) for Monday night.

WINDY.

Just hope Mac Jones can compensate for the WIND (left->right, right->left, against, with) on his throws...
So, it will be mostly running game will win...

He'll be fine.

They’re talking about times of 50mph wind.

I doubt Mac passes much. He doesn’t have the arm for that weather.

Allen may even struggle to throw through that wind.

Beat them up so bad that they gained over 400 yards and it took a last second FG to win.

That’s such a butt whipping.
The Pats were 14 point underdogs to the one of the greatest offenses ever to take the field. They held them to 17 points. A late rally against an exhausted team padded the stats guite nicely. The Pats had a middle of the pack offense at best. Are you purposely being thick headed?

Let me be clear, because I think we might be arguing two different things based on how we are both interpreting the words “beat the crap out of them”.

What I am saying is that the game was never a blowout. The patriots never dominated the Rams or stopped them from moving the ball. The Rams moved the ball for nearly 450 yards for goodness sake and were a missed field goal away from forcing OT.

It’s an outright lie to pretend like the Patriots D just shut down the Rams. They didn’t. The Rams weren’t far off from double the yards the Patriots had.

The Rams did just fine.

I do agree, however, that the Patriots were a much more physical team.

But that does not, to me, equate to the Patriots “beating the crap out of them”.

When I think of a team beating the crap out of another team, I think of a game that’s 35 to 3 and the team winning has more yards, more first downs, more third-down conversions, more sacks etc. That’s a crap beating.

if the way you think of “beating the crap out of a team“ is barely winning the game but you were the more physical team, then yes I suppose the patriots beat the crap out of the Rams.
Right - in that game yes they actually did literally "beat the crap out of them" as in beating them up. They were the far more physical team and it showed.

Couldn't do that today...that kind of play would be flagged all game. It's too bad tbh.

The kicking game might be interesting. Just like it was in that 2008 game where the goal posts had to be held upright.

Yeah i can remember a couple times their wrs were on the ground but untouched so our guys would just lower their shoulder and dive right into em lol and the refs couldn’t call anything then since the play was still alive. warner got the **** kicked out of him too that night and im not sure how much of that would be allowed now. That’s probably where the disconnect is in this argument because imo anybody who has watched that game as much as we have would naturally remark that we beat the heck out of them that night.

Yeah obviously the game wasn't a blowout on the scoreboard but it was pretty one sided as far as who had the more physical play. I don't think the Rams players really enjoyed being out there that day as much as they thought they would and I guess I don't blame them.

Even our run game physically manhandled their run defense which actually was one of the best in the league that year. Smith was a physical runner and got 5.1 yards a pop. Rams gave up more yards rushing that game than they had all season against any opponent. BB loves that kind of football.

Good point.

Some people have no idea what they are looking at. It is an open message board so we get all types. I wouldn't bother trying to teach or convince him.

I keep running this game over and over in my mind and still have a hard time getting a handle on it.

First there is the weather. According to NFLweather.com The Temps will be about 30 all through the night, with the wind around 20MPH There is very little chance of precipitation during the game. I'm not sure, but does an 18-20mph wind greatly affect the passing game?

Now if I were playing the Pats, I'd spread them out, and if they chose to play zone, dink and dunk them with the pass while that same spread will open up run lanes for Allen Brieda and Singletary.

As to how the Pats might defend them, I'm guessing the majority of the time we WILL be in zone, while changing up on occasion to fool Allen. Getting Collins back will help getting speed back at the LB area. Ideally, Josh Uche could match Allen's speed outside opposite Judon for contain. Is he still on IR?

On the plus side, the ONLY time Allen has had a big game against the Pats was the season ender last season when they gutted us by over 30. The other 5 games, including last season, he's been really pedestrian

The Bills will have a big advantage at the skill positions. (Dawson Knox was a big binky of mine and he's good) The Bills will get back a solid G back for this game which should improve their OL, but its still not great. They also get back a good DLman (Starr L) which should solidify their DL against the run, but they are in the bottom third of the league in sacks. So I'm guessing no more than 2 for this game maybe less.

We swap critical DB losses in White and Duggar. Even without White the Bills secondary is strong.

We are the hottest team in the league, and it isn't JUST a 6 game win streak, its a 6 game win streak of double digit wins (except the SD game where we gave them a garbage TD at the end) HOWEVER the key to all those dominant wins was a humongous TO ratio. Something you really can't count on every game, and that bothers me.

So are we REALLY that good, or is the rest of the league blowing smoke up our rears. Prior to this season I thought we COULD be a fringe playoff team THIS year and blossom into a true contender in 22. Will Monday be a needed step back, or are we a true superbowl contender with a shot at the bye???? Still have no clue

they still won, which is something the Bills can't say.

the Rams were 14 point favorites in that game. to put that into perspective, the 2007 Patriots were 12.5 point favorites

This thread is missing the mark.
