PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Texans

Immediate Postgame Reactions
I would say if you're looking for objectively the worst, and you think it's Houston, you need to take a closer look at the 0-5 team that Houston blew out in week 1.
Yeah, the idea of Houston being the worst team in football was mostly an off-season narrative (which I fully bought). They've shown a lot more fight than expected, and it would be tough to call them worse than the Jaguars or even a team like the Jets.

They're about as good as we are right now, with the difference being they're overperforming to get there whereas we're underperforming to get there.

Why so sensitive? All I said was it will be interesting to see how our secondary performs against DAL & LAC given that a HOU team that ranked in the bottom of the league was able to do this.

Sorry I dared to express concern. Maybe everything is just fine and I'm just a delusional fan.

Not being sensitive, just pointing out that I've heard this type of concern (not just about the Patriots, but across the NFL) a LOT, and it very rarely plays out in a linear fashion.

Also, I never said everything was fine or that you were delusional. Don't be so sensitive (I'm joking, I'm joking. We won, I'd rather not be at each other. So if it seemed like an attack earlier I apologize).

Here’s the thing I wish to make clear. I want the Pats to win. I want Mac to be The Guy for the next decade or more. I want Belichick to be his head coach for as long as reasonably possible given his age. I want him to get the Shula record. These are things I want.

However, I am just SICK of the coaches and team personnel below Bill being either a bunch of his sycophants or his own kids. Please, Kraft, demand he hire a real god damned stuff. Make him take a cut out of his allegedly 20+ million a year salary to pay for them if you must. Just please Pats, GET REAL COACHES. PLEASE. And don’t say “there’s Mayo” because unless he gets a promotion and a title next year he IS gone because he’s already on the short list for a HEAD coaching job.
Be careful what you wish for.

What makes you think Kraft is qualified to dictate to Bill what assistant coaches he should hire?

Do you want the east coast version of the Dallas Cowboys?

Ugly win against a terrible team. Thank you Mac Jones for hanging in until the end. Two bad team's played each other, and one won; thankfully, it was the Pats. So much improvement is needed. So much more was expected. Is it the players, the coaches or both? Mac Jones is doing his job and he is a rookie starter.

Dude. Really?

Why are you acting like that the reason we sucked today? Our defense was atrocious until Larry Tonsil got hurt, and our offense is still the same old 2 touchdown 1-2 field goal fumbling machine it's been all year.

Some of y'all are way to optimistic for no reason.

And you have zero concept of the game of football as a whole. You can't be bothered to give the other team credit where it's due.

Perfect example is the "fumble that wasn't" that the league got wrong. There is no physical way for the Texans player who has half his body in the end zone to knock that ball with the arm that was in the EZ loose prior to it crossing the plane. It was a great play to hit the ball. But there was no conclusive replay shot that supported the call of a "TD" being over-turned.

Tunsil missed 3/4 of the game. Not sure why you're acting like he was out there for 3 quarters. He wasn't.

The D could have been better, but you're ignoring that Mills was out. This forced JoeJuan Williams up against faster guys like Connolly and Chris Moore. There was some uncharacteristic breakdowns in the secondary by Dmac. I also don't understand the reluctance by the coaching staff to have guys like Williams, Phillips, and Jackson hit the WR early and knock off the timing, but they clearly have a reason.

Optimistic for no reason? No. 20 years of watching Bill Belichick teams get better as the year goes on unless there is a huge injury, is reason to be optimistic.

No, I complete agree that Jerry Jones is the worst kind of meddling owner. But someone needs to give the order here and Kraft’s the boss. I’m not saying I want Kraft picking the coaches but just that he should get a list of names with detailed resumes.

Have to wonder if perhaps the game plan was "We'll stop the run and dare them to beat us with Davis Mills", and then Davis Mills was making great throws and they were like "oh f***". That said, they adjusted further by partway into the third quarter and pretty much throttled everything Houston did from then onward.

I want a team that can be better than .500 (well technically 8-9 now) going forward for the foreseeable future. I do not believe that this team as constructed and coached can.

Jackson, Hightower and McCourty are likely gone after this year. Who is going to build this team back up because even after spending $200 million there are holes everywhere and they’ll get worse next season. They can’t just buy a solution. Someone needs to figure out how to draft and find diamonds in the rough for cheap.

I will take a win any day. However, Pats should have rolled, even with the missing pieces. I feel a winning record this season would be a major accomplishment.

Ugly game but good to see them tough out a win and show good team character.

It looks like we are witnessing the downside of some of the defensive greats of the last decade. McCourty, Hightower, Van Noy...

We haven't been all that good this season and to expect for the pats to have steam rolled the Texans was a reasonable assumption.

A win is a win. Can't lose our 4th home game this week.

Lfgggggg

The pats offense had a productive day with four backups on the OL. The defense was a disaster against the worst offense in the NFL.

Onto the Cowboys
Except that Houston isn't the worst offense.. And their offense was different today because Connolly was 100% for the first time this year and they had Chris Moore playing for Amendola. HUGE difference in player type there.

I really don't know how Bob forwarding a bunch of resumes to Bill helps.
