MORSE: Patriots Roster Analysis – Part 7 Linebackers and Edge
Mark Morse
Now to the fun part the Linebackers and Edge players. This should be an exciting group this season with the veteran Free Agent signings, the return of Donta Hightower, and the emergence of young players that were forced into action earlier than expected last season.

DE/ED (4) - Judon, Dee Wise, Wino, Perkins
Nowhere near Foxborough, even on the PS, after Labor Day - Berry, Bower.

OLB (4) - Hightower, KVN, Uche, Jennings

ILB (2) - McMillan, Langi (Hall #3)
Damaged Goods - Cant McGroan
Please Go Away And Stay Gone - JaWrong Bentley, Brandon the King (of STs penalties).

Mcgrone seems to be coming along nicely. Not sure if he’ll be out all year unless BB can convince him to redshirt.

The only thing that could hold him back is that he’s a rookie and not a vet can afford to miss all of training camp and come back to play week 1. This is not the case with McGrone and the deep LB corps. He should heel up 100% or come in mid season if injuries pile up at ILB

I have 9 of your ten make the 53. I think that Langi is headed for the Practice Squad. I only have 9 at DE/DE/OLB/LB. I that this plenty.

Don't know if he'll be ready for the season at all, never mind the bye/trade deadline/week 9 timeframe...Indications appear to be that because his injury occured in November last year, he won't be ready to contribute until Thanksgiving at the earliest...But he's young, so maybe his recovery will be earlier than that...Still shouldn't be any need to rush him unless a rash of multiple injuries at the position befall them; and even then there are always decent LBs on the street at any given moment...

I don't know who ends up making the roster as the backups, but the starting rotation is going to be 50% better than last year immediately.
Added to the DL upgrades and solid secondary - this D should be a top 10, and could be a top 5

Only reason I mentioned him is I read somewhere he said he feels good and ready to go. We’ll see if he’s on the pup list or not.

Judon, Hightower, KVN, and Winovich/Uche/Perkins are only 50% better than last years LB/EDGE players?
