This group is much improved from last year

McGrone won't play a lot this year, probably, since he blew his ACL in November. So give him a season to bulk up and strengthen up a bit, while the Pats figure out who to (or who they can) keep of Hightower, Bentley, and Hall - all Free Agents.

I'm not sure he's small for our scheme. Similar size to Jerod Mayo and as a lesser draftee Elandon Roberts.
i think mayo was about ten lbs heavier

gowan or shi smith?

Agreed and did he weigh in at his Pro Day after he has been on crutches for months?

or an OG

Obviously you haven't watched him .

Plays big - just put on the tape, it helps..
It's irrelevant if i've seen him play or not. Highlights look good.

At any rate justify the pick all you want......hes coming off a blown ACL and we still have marginal talent at MLB.

The immediate need was not addressed by this specific player.

the required safety I guess

Wasn't he injured at the end of training camp that year, in one of the pre season games?
Think that was the 2nd game...didn't last long...

Heading to IR

UNDISCLOSED
September 26, 2018
Bentley (undisclosed) will be placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reports.

A Giants fan buddy of mine sent this to me. The guy who wrote this profile is a Giants fan and does this every year on their fan site (he is their @BaconGrundleCandy). He is also Ourlads chief scout.

Hard to complain about him in the late 5th.

It may be coincidence but I do think there have been far more consensus value picks this year compared to the Caserio years, so perhaps the
"Bill has changed his draft approach" stuff is true.

This might be our best draft since 2012.

OR Caserio was the problem.

We’re not really a 3-4 kind of team anymore and our DTs are big beasts which would allow for a run and hit linebacker behind them.
The Pats have been putting 2 LBs on the field pretty consistently. So that player need to be more ILB who can get sideline to sideline like Bruschi did in 2003 and Seau in 2005. They still need to be able to get past Guards who make it to the 2nd level despite our "big beasts" of DTs.. Which, the Pats typically only put 2 on the field with 2 EDGE guys and 5 DBs. The 5th DB being the S/LB hybrid that Chung, Phillips, and now Dugger have been filling.

So now that Bill took his safety. Will he take the rutgers player with the next pick?
