Retiring after a 12-season career with the New England Patriots in which he was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams and was chosen MVP of Super Bowl LIII, wide receiver Julian Edelman has caught a second act. He and his Coast Productions partner Assaf Swissa have made an overall deal at ViacomCBS. As part of that, Edelman will joining the Inside The NFL team as an analyst. That starts this fall, when the Emmy-winning series makes its debut on Paramount+. . .

To Edelman, a big part of the multi-year first look with ViacomCBS is an opportunity to develop scripted and unscripted programming for divisions from Paramount+ to Nickelodeon. He will participate behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

This is going to be difficult, seeing as I keep being told by people here that he's already on the plane to Tampa.

The article has something to say about that, too.

I read the part about him being happy for Brady and Gronk, but did I miss something else?

There's a part there about how his body physically isn't up to playing anymore.

The problem is that there isn't enough knee cartilage left to get on the plane with him.

Sweet!! Great for him and I look forward to watching him on Inside the NFL. I got a Paramount+ subscription for 1 year recently, they have a nice back library of older stuff. Not a ton that I personally love, but a crapload of old and new Nick shows for my kids. Definitely worth $60 for a year. I didn't even know Inside the NFL was gonna be a thing there, definitely looking forward to that.

He needs to call Gronks tailor and get him a purple Barney suit 3 sizes too big with cuffs dragging on the ground.

Look good = feel good is what I always say.

I guess I'm spoiled. When I first started watching that show the hosts were Len Dawson and Nick Buoniconti. They showed 45 minutes of game highlights and commented for 15 minutes. Now there's 45 minutes of hot air from a room full of talkers and 15 minutes of game highlights, even though there's more teams. I doubt that I'll watch now because of Edelman.

I think old sports media formats, specifically TV and radio talk shows, are obsolete. Forum posts and random YouTube videos regularly contain more useful information and entertainment than retired players yelling hot takes at each other with the intent of sparking disagreement for the viewers.

What you're describing is the current version of Inside the NFL. The original version was many highlights with insightful analysis from two former players.

That's why it's obsolete.

I just hope he can match the intensity of his Officer Edelman/Officer Amendola Dunkin Donuts projects. Who wouldn't pay a subscription fee for a JE original

He could eventually be a WR coach.
