On to the Chargers

Used to like the ATD site to stream but there’s way to much malware junk there that you have to avoid.

I
If you’re passionate enough about the pats to be posting on this forum, I would think you would rather pull up a stream of the game than watch the eagles, no?
I'll listen to the game on XM Radio. Zo tells it like it is.

Same here, so it's off to the bar I go, again...

This is what happens when you're 5-6 and Tom F Brady is no longer your QB...Out-of-state fans don't get to see them in their markets nearly as often...and it will likely be even fewer of those games next season.....
So bars are open where you live? I thought the Governor in PA shut down alcohol sales last week? We are CODE RED here in Denver. No indoor dinning etc. I would have to drive to a CODE ORANGE county to sit and watch the games. Socci and Zo have been fine for this season.

Wicked pissed that Pats not on TV Sunday South of Tamper FL.
Not even a Patriots South game on TV either as it's a bi-week (sic).

We will also get to finally settle the debate of who is the better receiver from the 2013 draft. Our second round pick Aaron Dobson or their third round pick Keenan Allen.

I watched the Cardinals game at the bar, so unless something's changed here during the past 3 days - which is possible; I no longer watch or read the news - then we should still be in good shape I hope...

Allen might be ahead right now, but I have a feeling that Dobson's going to have a break-out game Sunday...Boyce too...

Belichick called Bosa, the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, “one of the most disruptive players in the league.”
He highlighted his motor, strong hands, and good instincts and said that if he’s not making the play, he’s “screwing the play up and forcing the ball to somebody else.”
“He’s definitely the guy to stop,” Belichick said.
Belichick referenced the Chargers’ game against the Bills last week, when Bosa became the third player in NFL history to record three sacks, five quarterback hits, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery.
“He’s a one-man wrecking crew,” Belichick said.

The last time the Patriots were up against an opponent not in the hunt, they stumbled against the 3-6 Houston Texans – another team with talent on both sides of the ball that has lost close games all season.
Though the Chargers are young at certain positions, they shouldn’t be taken lightly. All 11 of their games have been decided by 10 points or fewer, with five of their losses coming by five or fewer.
In addition to their overtime losses to the Chiefs and Saints in overtime, they also fell to the Denver Broncos by one point in regulation. The Chargers have lost four times after holding a double-digit lead.
All of the Patriots’ last five games have been decided by seven points or fewer, winning games by three, six, and three in the last four weeks.

When I look at the Chargers team stats, a couple things stand out. One is that their run defense is not particularly strong, allowing 4.8 yards per carry. (On the other hand one of the two teams ranked worse was Houston, leading me to believe the Pats would be able to run the ball to victory against the Texans; that prediction did not work out well.)

Their defense ranks 25th, allowing 27.3 points per game. Interestingly there is one other stat that correlates to allowing that many points: the Chargers don't force turnovers. LAC ranks 26th in opponent interception percentage (1.60%) and 22nd in takeaways overall (1.1 per game).

The Pats offense ranks 31st in interception percentage (4.11%) and is 23rd in giveaways per game. As cliche as it is to say turnovers are the key to the game, it truly applies in this game - even though in this case it is a weakness versus weakness.

Also worth noting is that both teams are very inefficient on offense, piling up yardage that yield not enough points. The Chargers rank 22nd with 0.347 points per play, and the Pats are 25th (0.331). The Charger defense is deficient in this category due to their inability to create turnovers, ranking 29th (0.445 opponent points per play).

With both teams involved in so many close games, this outcome could be decided by a field goal. Michael Badgley ranks 24th out of 30 kickers with just a 77.3% conversion rate. Badgley is fine up close (6-6 from 20-29 yards), but just 6-13 from the 40 and beyond. By comparison Nick Folk has made 90.5% of his kicks (12th), including 9-12 from outside the 40.

Is there a game tomorrow? Funny how we (me included) are talking so little about it.

It is nice to have Keene back. Hopefully he will have an impact - let's shoot for 3 catches. Moncrief on kick returns? What happened to Jeff Thomas?
