Does anyone know what happens with Cam Newton and his one year deal if there is no season?

Would he become a free agent again, or would the contracts never honored just apply to the next season?

I believe it would lead to being an FA again. The NFL season has already started.

If the season is not played, all contracts should toll, no?

I don't think anyone knows what will happen to any contracts draft positions etc.

What a cancelled season would mean for contracts would be a conversation between the NFL and the union I think.

Most likely scenario is that contracts don't toll, guarantees are paid out but incentives obviously not. I find it difficult to imagine the NFL and NFLPA coming up with anything else.

If a tree falls in the woods ... and nobody sees it ... does anyone care?

"That goddamn tree better be wearing a Pat Patriot red jersey!"
I dunno, the thing's falling to the ground and therefore decaying into rotted, useless, mold-covered slime, so it's clearly more appropriate for it to be adorned in Flying Elvis garb.

Which would explain why I went in there and chopped the stupid thing down in the first place.

The earmuffs I'm wearing so I can't hear it? Probably because the chain saw is too loud.

...Didn't think this was going to such a developed place...:coffee:

[Edit]

:rolleyes:OK so apparently it's not seen, so I'm also wearing a blind fold.

OT: How do those guys juggle those running chain saws blindfolded? Practice?

Look, Covid 19 ain't going anywhere before next year, so this is getting worse until then, not better. Sorry.

Really anything is on the table if owners and players agree, but I think most assume contracts would toll a year and everyone gets a year’s experience, just no money.

If the season doesn't happen, William Belichick the Genius still starts the 2021 offseason with like a hundred million in open cap space.

.

Why would you assume contracts would toll ? There is nothing in the CBA stating that. There is no way in hell the NFLPA will agree to a deal where no money is paid.

I would be overjoyed to never see Cam in a Pats jersey.

Any agreement can be amended if both sides agree so I don't care what the current CBA says when the League and Players will have to iron out precisely how to proceed.

If games are cancelled, it will be a decision made by both sides. I do not think the League will cancel games if the players are eager and willing to play. The players will be wise to work out a compromise instead of taking a hard line. There may be some sort of base salary distributed, but I just don't see serious cash given to the players if there are no games.
