Patriots Roster Analysis Part II – Defense

Mark Morse

Defense is the hallmark of Bill Belichick led teams and this year’s team will likely win or lose based upon how well the Defense plays.

Generally agree; however...

"In the slot there is none better than Jon Jones..."
Don't know about that...He really kinda sucked after his return from injury, especially during the Miami & KC losses...If/when healthy yeah he's good, and had he been healthy for SB 52 we win that game because he (or, perhaps, somebody else) would've make the 3rd-down tackle on Agholor... None Better seems an exaggeration though...

Also, imagine how good this secondary would be if Eric Reid had been drafted instead of the Little Duke (but Not of Dorchester)...Side benefit: No need to draft Fugger with the 37th overall pick.

"The film I have seen of him [DT Bill Murray] reminds me of the Jet's Joe Klecko..."
More like Dan Klecko...Sorry but Carl Spackler just doesn't possess the body for an NFL DT...
a 3-4 DE perhaps, but I doubt that he's agile enough to move outside, and that's not where we need the most help anyway...Bill shoulda made a better effort to sign UDFA Benito Jones...

I agree he's slightly overrated, but he's up there just by default. There's not a lot of good slot CB's. SF's Kawan Williams is regarded as arguably the best.

You mean Justin Reid. Another one of Billy's blunders.

I wanted to give the rule change a Winner, but the change appears not to have eliminated the stupid proviso that players bound for IR had to remain on the 53 past Cut-Down Day, thereby exposing healthier players to waivers...pity...

Sorry! Read it fast while working. Progress in this area has always been slow. 8 weeks is too long. It once was 6. That should be changed as well.
