It seems very likely that the top 2 plus herbert will be gone in the top 10, perhaps even the top 5. At that point, there are three teams that might draft Love: JAX, LV and NE.

How much, if anything are you willing to trade to move up. My guess is that it would take a 3rd and a 4th.

This all depends on whether we believe Love is an upgrade from stidham.

I like the talent but wouldn’t entertain the trade up unless JAX and LV pass on him with their first picks at 9 and 12. Somewhere in that 15-17 range instead of the move all the way up to 7-8 ahead of Jax which would cost at least next years 1st in addition to pick 23 and a 3rd rounder.

My guess is that no one is willing to move ahead the early LV and JAX picks. I was think of them using those picks for blue chip studs. We then need to get ahead of their second picks at 19 and 20. Of course, there is also the possibility that one of them would be competing with us to move up a bit.

I agree that we shouldn't entertain moving up into the top 10. I was thinking of 15-17 as you indicated.

My guess is that Love is more likely to have the potential of being a franchise (top 10) quarterback than Stidham. However, even if this weren't true, I think that it is a good idea to have two quarterbacks competing for the role of franchise quarterback. I would expect Stidham to have the inside track in 2020.

I sure wouldn't like the idea of trading up for him. Don't even think I'd feel comfortable drafting him with #23. Just too much boom-or-bust potential for a 1st round QB. Reading through scouting reports he seems to have accuracy and turnover issues and melts under pressure. Not the ingredients I want to see in a 1st round QB.

Ok,can anybody explain me what was the reason of Love's stats slide in 2019? His TD/INT ratio from 32/6 collapsed to 20/17.

I think Love is super talented but brainless. I don't think he makes it. He can make a spectacular throw that no-one else can make but too often he doesn't see a straightforward, easy open pass. Poor anticipation and not great at reading defenses. He has all the tools, except the brain, he's just not cerebral enough.

I'm hoping Indianapolis trades us their two second round picks for 23 when Love is still on the board.

I like Love and think he's the kind of quarterback you gamble on, but I wouldn't trade up for him. I think it's far more likely the Patriots trade back this year. The value is in the 30-60 area in this draft, and picking up more picks there would be nice.

If that happens you condemn Stidham. Do you want to do that? I stick with Stidham for a year see what you have. If he sucks, next year's draft position will be high and cap will be able to provide relief. Could get next year's version of Love if necessary.

With Love here, I would expect Stidham to start this year. I don't see how this condemns last year's 4th rounder.

Because of the investment required. The signing bonus for the #23 pick is about twice the size of Stidham's entire contract.

There are really only three possible outcomes:
  • They're drafting Love with the expectation that he'll start next year if he doesn't win the job outright this year, basically telling Stidham "you're a placeholder."
  • Love doesn't win the job, in which case they've wasted a first-round draft pick.
  • Neither works out, in which case they've wasted multiple picks.

Love Stinks.

Stay far, Far away from this turnover machine.

I agree. He seems like Stidham 2.0. May as well stay with Stidham

My understanding is he lost most if not all of his skill players from 2018. Big drop in talent

Love MAY have a higher ceiling, may. But Stidham was very highly thought of coming out of high school, and then after his sophomore season in college, he was talked about as a 1st round pick, some even felt he'd be the 1st QB picked. Then after a "bad year", he falls to the 4th round. But the difference between HIS bad year, and Love's bad year is quite interesting. They both went through similar things prior to their junior seasons, as far as coaches/players leaving. Yet Stidham threw 18 TDs and 5 Ints, and Love threw 20 TDs and 17 Ints. Stidham threw 13 Ints his whole career.

Would I be upset if they drafted love 23rd overall ? No. Would I be upset if Belichick felt he was worth trading up for ? No.

BUT, I feel if they don't draft a QB within the first 3 rounds, that says a lot about how Belichick feels about Stidham, I would not be shocked if they don't draft a QB at all.

I would add the 4th round in addition to your 1st 3. But drafting a QB in 5th, 6th or 7th is a waste of time, except perhaps to have an arm for camp.

"I would do anything for Love." - Meatloaf

"Trade Gilmore?"- me

"But I won't do that." - Meatloaf

would rather see Stidham compete with a late round qb than jordan love
