Anti-Patriot sentiment will last for the next 100 years.

Generations of complainers and whiners will always need an excuse
No once we stop winning people will find the new team to whine about.

-the Patriots cheat
-The Warriors are ruining the league by having Durant go to a superteam
-Lebron's broke the league by going to Miami
-The Astros cost the Dodgers and Yankees because some guy banged on a trash can.

Losers find excuses.

I predict a 500k fine and a 7th-round pick in 2030.

Right, if it weren't for spygate/deflategate, people will say things like "Bill is classless" or "Brady is a jerk" or the "Pats are an arrogant organization," etc. They'll always come up with something.

Already were in 2003-06.

I overcome all criticism by wearing a t-shirt that on the front says DYNASTY and on the back it says They Only Hate Us 'cause they Ain't Us. Shows a football and 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, 2018.

It works

I saved all of the nfl and Goodell public statements before that season began stating how they were going to be measuring AND DOCUMENTING ball pressure at games throughout the season.

there was a clear change of position/policy later in the year when reports from the Chicago Minnesota game I think it was where some balls dropped to 8 psi or so, which confirmed what Nobel prize scientists, top academic institutions and 5th graders in science class had been saying all along about IGL.

Goodell and NFL did a complete 180, when asked about releasing the numbers from their measurements, Goodell’s statement was something along the lines of
“We never said we were collecting measurement data or were going to release it. We Conducted random spot checks throughout the year to ensure teams were complying with the rules and we’re happy to report there were no violations”.

Which was a complete lie, he very clearly before the season stated they were going to be gathering data on ball psi before games, and just couldn’t commit to what kind of timeline would be involved for releasing that data.

he’s such a slimy little f***... born and bred politician, a sniveling worm. A perfect Wormtongue for the Cabal of nfl ownership

I've been thinking about this point in the bigger picture. In court, the NFL built the manipulation of the PSI in a football into a significant violation, equating it with using PEDs. They, as you note, said there were going to be strict new guidelines on the handling of footballs and the PSI would be documented going forward. Then they reversed course and now appear to not care about the inflation of footballs at all.

My question is, why do you only hear about this contradiction in forums like this. The sports media, who happily covered deflategate, don't seem to remember what Goodell said the league was going to do and why. No one seems curious as to why the league seemingly lost interest in this topic.

What made me think about this was a comment Peter King made in his column last week. In his "Tweets of the Week" section, King quoted Russell Okung stating "Roger Goodell has the NFL media working double time right now." after the owners voted to approve the new CBA. King's response veered into politics so I won't quote it, but his point was that the idea of a player inferring the NFL media is in Goodell’s pocket is completely ridiculous.

I'm not surprised that King won't admit that the NFL media, at a minimum, steers clear of topics or questions that could cost them access, but they definitely do. Otherwise, why don't we have an explanation about the change regarding PSI measurements? Why didn't King ever ask why the league leaked the false "11 of 12 Patriots footballs deflated/Colts footballs unchanged" story? Why don't you ever see someone like Schefter or Rapoport ever have a negative opinion about something the league did? Heck, King and Klemko had the Chris Carter/Fall Guy story when it happened, but didn't report it because the NFL asked them to keep it quiet. Goodell doesn't have a department censoring NFL columns to only include league approved storylines, but the media knows what lines not to cross if they want to maintain access and sources.

@Koma

Peter King is the absolute worst and epitome of a suck up who stays in his lane in exchange for access. His cowardly reporting has now been adopted by Florio too. There are very few reputable reporters left who aren’t property of the NYFL.

Peter King is most impressed with......
.
.
.
...himself

Though.....his ‘squeal like a pig’ performance as Ned Beatty’s stunt double in Deliverance was gripping

Still nothing.

Falcons got their penalty for pumping in fake crowd noise on a March 30 date so maybe the same will be true here. Who knows. All we know now is if it was the worst case scenario then BB would probably have been suspended already and would not be starting the new league year with the team.

Or they can suspend Brady as long as they want. :D

What the astros did was far and away another level from any of those other examples. Astros truly are cheaters and don’t deserve their title

Now would be a good time for the NFL to wrap this up.

I'm assuming we'll hear something before the draft.

If they take away a pick it will probably be the 2021 draft. That’s what they did to the Falcons when they lost a pick for fake crowd noise. Plus if the Patriots take a step back in 2020 it will hurt them more.

We shouldn't lose any. This whole thing is ********

I don't think anything is coming. I think with the virus and all it would look extremely petty right now for the NFL to do anything to throw a dark cloud over the draft especially given it is the only sporting event happening. If there was anything they found back in Feb that was bad the Pats would have been punished by now.

I would agree but this is Roger Goodell so anything goes. He will probably take a draft pick saying it was because of this and integrity and whatever but the real reason is for Patricia wearing the clown shirt. I wouldn’t put anything past the clown on the shirt.

Before all of that it was an asterisk because of the tuck rule call. Without the call, Bledsoe would have taken his job back and Brady would be out of football. Or something.

Agree with all but that last one. The people in the know realize it was a bit more than that. Manfred offered the immunity deal so the players could talk freely. Buzzers were used and that was f-ing buried with the quickness because what that info would do to the sport would have been devastating. That whole thing was a coverup.
