Jimmy Garoppolites appreciation thread

Mahomes is the best right now but i believe brady can still be a top 5 QB with a good unit. We need tight ends and some quickness at wideout. Shifty wideouts like edelman.

Abautely agree

Right, 2nd and 4 with 8 in the box. God forbid the coaches can put him in a more favorable matchup. That was a throwing situation and JG didn’t come through. Next down they blitzed 6 and that was up to Jimmy to diagnose and find the open man. Again, he didn’t come through.

How does a guy have a tough time picking up a read with the blitz. Isn’t that taught? Hard to believe this offense scored 20 points. What a waste.

Jimmy lost the game.... I guess

The officiating here was worse than 05 Steelers vs hawks.

Brady didnt have the best game oast year in the superbowl either. 0 td and an int on the first ****ing pass too.

**** happens.

I would say this about the officiating. Bosa was held on every play I watched. If I were a 9er fan I’d be bent right now.

Nice that this is the off season ....
Mods are allowed to keep troll threads up. :D

For the record ... I was happy with the trade - it was the right choice.
We won a Super Bowl by keeping Brady ... that alone made it worth it.

He through 1 int that impacted the game.

Ok, so it was not "Insane" to think he was a problem in the game. I do find it amusing that you, a person who can't wait to ***** about every perceived error committed by a member of the Patriots during a game, is here defending JAG to the death after he had a 2 pick game in the Super Bowl.

Well amusing for me. Embarrassing for you.

Tough to crush the QB when his team was winning by 10 in the fourth quarter. Especially when his coach was already the play caller on the team that lost when up 28-3.

I want perfection

Bill would expect nothing less

What about staring his wideouts and overthrowing sanders? He needed to put some touch in that pass. Jimmy G is one of those guys i feel that’s in the same class as prescott and cousins.

Chiefs needed prayers and calls tonight. 9ers got robbed.

Brady wins the title if he's got Mahomes' weapons. Mahomes doesn't get past his first playoff game if he's got Brady's weapons.

The spread was just that wide.
I wonder if Mahomes' legs could have been enough to be the difference maker. Not even a jab at Brady. Maybe Mahomes could have scored 17 just because he has the speed Brady doesn't. I don't know though, im just saying if Mahomes was on NE.

Nobody expects perfection. And, given that you're defending a guy who tossed two picks, and who apparently had some important open receiver misses, you clearly don't expect perfection.

But keep digging. I'm making some tea, so I'll be around for the laughs.

Well this may come across as an odd take, but I shared these thoughts after sitting up high at the 50-yard line during a 49ers game I attended (blowout win over the Browns).

Garoppolo is not very good fit for Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Shanahan is an awesome coach. Garoppolo is a great quarterback. The two don’t seem to mesh very well. Garoppolo looked much better in New England with a read/react type of system; he looked absolutely awesome in those six quarters with NE and was confidently stepping around the pocket and buying time.

The Shanahan offense is really effective, but it also limits the quarterback and is extremely systematic. Garoppolo looks down his first read and throws there all the time and rarely scans the field. There isn’t a lot of freedom for the QB, since the system is based on the scheme itself opening up a very specific attack plan. A more robotic QB (think of Matt Ryan in this system) is a great fit. Garoppolo’s pocket mobility and scanning the field so well are somewhat neutered here.

Can they win? Sure. Is the offense still really good? You bet. But it seems in some ways like it’s a forced union of two very effective, but also opposite, philosophies.

I was rooting for Jimmy G and the Niners. What lost the game for the Niners was their defense and O line in the last 9 minutes. Defense totally choked, and the O line was Swiss cheese in the 4th quarter. This all falls on the coach as well, as well as play calling late (which was horrid). But every time the Chiefs blitzed late in the game, I knew it was coming, how come the Niners didn’t ? Just a frustrating last 9 minutes, and I knew a 10 point lead wasn’t enough. Even called it before the game, said Chiefs by 10, I was close, it was 11.

I'm defending the fact the he didnt lose the game.

While youre arguing something you couldnt possibly know one thing about having not seen it.

But that's par for the course.

49'ers gagged ... plain as day.
Also the Chiefs let Bosa exhaust himself ... a Belichick ploy in Super Bowls.
49'ers could not sustain drives when they needed to ... so they lose.

Not with the Patriots pass protection problems, IMO. Brady being a pure pocket passer was actually a plus in some ways this year, because it's combined with his ability to protect himself while inside that pocket. At least Newhouse wasn't worried about his QB moving on him, so he could set up and block at least one bit of space. If he'd been trying to protect a scrambling QB that QB would have been a dead man by the end of his tenure as starting LT.

I agree with the 9ers choking as well. I said in the Sherman Revis thread that Sherman got roasted and took a horrible angle on the Williams TD.

It's funny how you blame someone else for the last pick but apparently negate Brady's TD drives during an exact same situation.

Brady >>>> Jimmy

Brady in the exact same situation fumbled the ball with a wide out james white in the flat....

A year after going to white time and time again in the SAME situation.

Brady is the goat.

Brady is not perfect.

He's usually a solid player mentally ... but he's not the Seahawk Sherman.
Back then he could make a false step ... those wheels are gone.

But that's par for the course.

Let's recap:

  1. You claimed that it was insane to put the blame on JAG, an obviously untrue statement given his two picks and your admission that the first of the two impacted the game.
  2. I acknowledged that I hadn't watched the game, and talked only about those picks, of which, again, you've acknowledged one impacted the game.

So there's something here that's par for the course, alright. That thing is you saying really silly stuff in game/post game threads.
