Thoughts on Jacksonville-Indy game?

I have two thoughts on this game

1) I would normally pick Indy to win handily, except that Jax seems to get real fired up for prime time home games. Even despite this, I will be surprised if Indy loses.

2) If I were Indy, I would be nervous of all the ACLS that might be blown or kidney shots that might be dealt if they take control of this game early. The Jags are not exactly the "cleanest" team.

At least Jacksonville could "soften up" the Colts for the New England Patriots.

at JAX
at CAR
NE
at SD

I think the Colts' goals should be, in order:

1) Beat the Pats

They do not want to be playing in Foxborough in January. This tiebreaker is not absolutely necessary for them to defend the title, but it is pretty close.

2) Survive without losing anyone for the playoffs

From a depth perspective, they really are paper-thin. There not many starters they could afford to lose (none on offense, maybe a LB or CB) and still make noise in the playoffs. These are 4 physical teams, 3 on the road. If someone gets dinged up, expect them to sit through this stretch (exception for goal #1 above).

3) Win 3 out of 4

One loss in this stretch is no big deal. If they avoid the injury bug, they could easily run the table from week 11 on.

The game tonite is huge for the Colts. They could rocket in either direction...up with a big win and no injuries...down with a loss and/or injuries. How pretty the game is or what the statistics look like doesn't matter at all.

Regardless of how this plays out for the Colts, I see SD crushing them in 3 weeks. West coast, probably a need game for Bolts, Pats hangover, 3rd of 4 on the road.

it will be a typical build up about how the jags will challenge the colts but the colts will put together a few drives and beat the jags easily. I wont be surprised if the score becomes close but i think colts win this easy.
jax is also one of those SD type teams which believes in itself too much before playing some team. Sure they beat the colts once last yr. Even the jets beat us once last yr.

i think the opposite. The norv turner mini honeymoon will end when colts come in and manning goes after the SD secondary.

I should hope the Pats lose, but what can I say--my stupid heart does sort of relish the idea of both teams being unbeaten and the Pats winning by 4 TDs.

My prediction would be a fairly easy Colts' win, say 30-16.

Honestly, I don't see the Colts beating the Patriots this year. Too many losses on the Colts roster will doom them this year:

Tarik Glenn
Dominic Rhodes
Brandon Stokley
Anthony McFarland
Rob Morris
Cato June
Nick Harper
Jason David

Damn, the Colts lost five defensive starters from their Super Bowl lineup.

I'm probably missing some key backups, as well.

I heard in '05 "The colts can't beat the Patriots.

I heard the same in two meetings in '06.

Take off those blinders. When they meet on the field Colts or Pats can win. But of course that's impossible for a pats fan to realize.

Yeah, I heard in 2003 your team was going to come here and smoke the Patriots in the AFCCG, how'd that work out for you?

Then in 2004, they were an offensive machine and were again going to blow the Patriots off the field in the playoffs; they scored a whopping THREE points and crawled out of here losing 20-3.

Get a grip you nitwit.

You're the idiot as the Cold Hard Football Facts disprove all your pathetic claims on this message board.

Get a grip? The only games you can bring up is the ones where BB manipulated the playing surface to slow the Colts down. Other than that we move the ball with ease on the Pats.

Simply pathetic excuses from another imbecilic Colts troll.

I would love to see 7-8 int's!

keep it exciting and break up the timing!

Go Jags!

Gang, should be a good game tonight? Anything specific any of you will be looking for in Indy's performance tonight?

Personally, I am interested in seeing how Jacksonville handles Indy's offense and if there could be any take-aways for our D Nov 4th. I would like to see a game plan work against Addai (stuff him, crowd the line, anything), he is a great back...

Any back they put back there does well.

If Jacksonville can get their running game going and stick to it they are going to give the Colts a lotta problems. I'd say the Jags have a 33% upset chance here.

Right, you got any cold hard football facts for that accusation?
Why don't you disprove it since all your posts on this message board are completely worthless.

Ah, more Colts troll bufoonery!

Jax are mighty tough on the run, which would be absolutely key playing a team that really relies upon it like the Steelers, but not so much against Peyton, Marvin and Reggie.

One of the huge things will be Jax's ability to run the ball on Indy - its still a mystery to me how the Colts turned around that feeble run D during last years post-season.

The typical approach of Colts fans appears to be to have faith in the addition-by-subtraction theory - those defensive players that were lost were no great shakes for large parts of last year anyway.

The Colts don't like in your face attitude coupled with some smash mouth play - the further you can push them out of their finesse comfort zone the less able they are.

Having said all this, I think the Colts just have too much through the air.

Colts 21-6.

No why don't you prove it. You accused him of pumping in crowd noise. I've been to the Dome a number of times and the crowd is the one making the noise.
