Not sure it saves a roster spot. If anything, it gives them a better option for a blocker than having a blocking TE on the field. I would love to see him and Develin on the field at the same time to really confuse the opposing defense as to which way the run will go..
It looks like the Patriots are done with being out-muscled on the defensive line. Fitzpatrick is sharp today, but need to be made to move outside the pocket.
