You really shouldn't tell me that I'm reading it wrong when you clearly butcher it and say the exact opposite of what the rule says. Here is the direct quote for you..

Rule 5, Section 3, Article 1 NOTE:

We have a situation where an ineligible player reported as Eligible and was the last person on the line INSIDE the "tackle box". As I mentioned, Harbaugh whined about this a few years back to the point where Brady said during his post-game press conference that Harbaugh should learn the rules. And then the league changed the rules.. That's why I was asking for clarification.
I was confused about this as well

Going back to pre season I wanted burkehead traded , yet again , here he is performing well when he was needed...cant fault that

except the fumble...

Committed to the run.

Opened up the middle of the field for play action

Aside from those 3 plays, our D was great.

Big ups to Guy who single-handedly stopped numerous Bills running plays.

And Sony on offense who ran decisively.

And to McD for committing to run the damn ball which helped our passing game immensely.

I've been banging the commitment to the run drum much of the season. However, the trick with commitment to the run is getting enough out of it to not make it a likely wasted down. You can't commit to the run when it means a lot of 3rd and 7s. Today, the median run (i.e., your typical play, not average - which gets skewed by those 18 and 25-yard gems) was 4.0 ypc (excluding kneeldowns). That's the result of good blocking, hard running, and a good scheme and play mix. Nobody is going to commit to the run when assignments are getting missed or the defense is ready and making stops, and the typical run gets you 2 ypc. The offensive line made major steps this game, and Elandon Roberts has arrived. He may not have figured out when to chip a DLman on his way through the hole like Devlin, but his guy is not making the tackle.

A couple leftover thoughts:

Allen has made big strides since week 4. If he spends the off-season focusing on footwork and accuracy, he could be really good next year. Hopefully, Tom hangs around another year to keep him motivated. I could enjoy watching the Bills lose the SB again in a few years.

I sure hope Newhouse is better at RT than he was on the blindside.

I am glad Burkehead got a chance to redeem himself. I am also glad that play was not to Michel, he would have fallen down after that hit at the goal line.
WTF moment: Why did Bill not accept the penalty after the last TD on the 2point conv?

Good question. That told me that they had a pass play called, which should have given the Bills an advantage. My guess is that they didn't want the goal-line space for Edelman squeezed any further, but I'd think that he could run the pattern a yard deeper.

Isnt it funny to be able to criticize a legendary quarterback when you (kellerman) have no athletic ability? Brady has more talent in his nutsack than Max has in his entire bloodline.

To be fair, Brady is "pretty poor at everything except throwing the ball."

after the past week, using the ignore feature to skim down the people i’m interested in talking with, posting in this topic will expedite trimming that list down quickly, i’ve hit ignore on like 15 so far. there’s quite a few people here who are really enjoyable to converse with especially when the noise gets filtered out. Shaw66 on 2billsdrive is one of the few people i enjoy talking football with. plus people on 2bd can’t figure out how to post in a single topic about a single topic. the game was predictable. new england clearly wanted this game, had good run schemes and buffalo was over perusing, miss tackling and ne just bulled there way down for 7. it was over before even started. ne prepared better, was ready to execute better, and showed more will. I wasn’t going to sit there and watch them muscle my team for hours in end. Ive seen this before. same bills. same pats.

Dude, a true football fan hangs in there to watch the plays and appreciates the good ones that an opponent makes (while swearing up a storm). There is always an ebb and flow and adjustments that keep the game new. The Patriots are just better at working through that and coming out on top than anyone else, but if a team goes out and wins enough one-on-one assignments, that won't matter, and the Pats will lose. It's one thing for a team to feel beat down by the Pats mental and physical toughness, when they are getting run over every third play, but it's not that demanding to grab another beer and watch the game. If you aren't going to watch the game, what is the point? It's not like this was a 1pm game where the sun was shining for the first time in December and Buffalo and you had something better to do. Ignore away. I can't imagine having a good conversation about football with someone who doesn't care enough to watch.

Not BB’s best coaching performance

WTF are you talking about? Very good gameplan no one just shuts anyone out! Beasley ran wild a bit, but in the end it was well done.

JMO, but it was a mistake to go for it on 4th down on the 40 with a minute to go in the first half.

The Bills had two timeouts left, and it was a defensive battle. No need to take that risk, and give the Bills hope of going into the half tied. We were in control at that point.

The game shifted after that. Bill coached like he had a powerhouse offense.

But that was it for the bad. Great game plan, but next time in that situation they will pin the opponent back and go into the half with a touchdown lead.

I was confused about this as well

It’s irrelevant and the opposite of the situation that happened in the game. The rule cited would apply if, let’s say, Knox reported as ineligible. Then he’d have to line up as a C, G or T.

I think BB was questioning whether Dawkins reported as eligible. I suspect the D didn’t know he was eligible for some reason.

I sure diddn't hear it

Absolutely. Gilmore has to cover the corner and the post on that. DMac had the post and had the primary responsibility of not letting Brooks behind him. He fell down on that one.

I think he looked strong side and, by the time he looked back, Brown just whizzed by him. Still should make that play.

Idk if I agree with that.
What kept them in the game was the burkhead fumble, the 2 opi calls, and a couple of fluky plays that were the only offense they could muster.

Yes, but it cuts both ways. That facemask penalty would have helped them - maybe not as much, but that's how it goes. The fact is that the Pats have a better run defense than the Chiefs or the Ravens, so the Bills have a chance to do real well in the playoffs. If Allen's big plays are a counterpoint to an effective running game, that offense becomes much more dangerous, and that defense is as good as any.

Yes BB was questioning if he declared himself eligible as he clearly didn't know.

So either BB had a major gaffe or they never announced it and informed the D like baby Harbaugh pushed for

The 2 OPI calls for sure kept them in it. I don't blame burkhead...it was a great defensive play, although I agree with the guys in the game thread saying they saw it coming. I was screaming at the TV but I can't explain why. Very good showing by the Pats. This team is heading in the right direction and may have enough to close the deal.

He needs to learn from that. Edelman gets in those situations all the time and has a habit of looking over his shoulder, so he knows when to put to hands on the ball. Watch for it the next time you see a highlight of his catch and run on the drive opener of the winning drive.

They do have to at least announce it. In the Divisional Game against the Ravens you can clearly hear them announce that Vereen was ineligible and I have heard them announce a lineman as elgible many times in the past. I didn't hear any such announcement last night before the TD.

That defense gave up 24 points and 414 yards to a struggling offense. Buffalo was fortunate to hang around because their D couldn’t get off the field and they often got beat up at the LOS.

Grades:

Brady A+. Sharp as ever, with a good running game and good OL he is still ELITE
Michel A-. Not fast enough for an A/A+ but was really good. Good effort and all.
White
Burkhead A. A+ without the fumble.
OL A+ Great job. Openning lanes, pass pro, really good game. Wynn was great and Newhouse was an unexpected good surprise at RT
WR: Edelman A+, Harry A, Meyers A, Sanu B- (couple of good catches and saved at least 10 yds on one punt, missed a block and still out of sync with Brady)
Roberts A.
Lacosse A-. (For his ceilling a TD and a lot of good blocks).
Watson A (robbed a TD)
