I am REALLY looking forward to this game. I believe it will be the first real test of our defense since the opening game.
The Jets have a quality QB, a top RB, 3 good WR's and a decent TE. The OL is still shaky but we aren't going to see better at the skill positions outside of KC and MAYBE Cleveland. So this will be a chance for the Defense to prove to those who are saying they haven't beaten a good offense yet. Nice to have challenges.
On the offensive side, they will face good talent as well. (It's nice to have high draft picks for decades at a time.
) The Jets defense have playmakers at all 3 levels (Williams, Mosely, Adams as well as other fine players. Their main weakness on D is their CB's, but WR isn't likely to be a big strength for us, so it will be up to McDaniels to scheme our guys into good situations.
Also the Jets defense have had one of the higher percentages of blitzing in the league (over 40%), which isn't likely to change given our OL issues and WR lacks.
So when you add the fact that the Jets have played us very tough in NJ when they have had a lot less going for them, it would seem that we are going to get a very effort AND challenge from them on Monday. To say this is going to be their Superbowl, would be an understatement.
Any win we get there will be a very good one, and if the Defense continues to excel down there like it has in previous weeks, I expect it will be very tough for ANYONE to beat us. So I see this as being a strong indicator for the rest of the season, while others might see it as "just another win against those sorry-assed Jets.
