Antonio Brown

I would have to have something to be sorry about first. I don't. You obviously feel differently.

Maybe you'll figure it out someday.

The clause is obviously there to discipline players into avoiding conduct that their clubs may dislike (i.e. doing anything that isn't being a shield-loving robot). In legal terms it's unnecessary, the contract language specifically says the team has sole discretion to determine what constitutes poor performance so there's literally no appeal rights if they say "We cut Antonio because he didn't catch that second touchdown."
This is 100% wrong.
It’s there because it is a different type of termination with different consequences, financially and legally.

Lol at three is no reason they just decided to do it and to specifically invoke it for no reason at all. First rule of holes my friend.

Injury grievances are covered under a different article of the CBA. They're basically the only negotiated protection for a player contract.
As are conduct issues.

crap it just dawned on me that Gordon's season usually ends due to falling back on the junk. It hit me like a train that it is naive to think there is not a pretty high chance we lose Gordon a long the way.

And Brown's a f'n nut case.

I agree he should lay low but you can’t really tell him how to live his life or he is fired.
Imagine if someone accused you of something and it pissed you off so you texted them. They sent the text to your boss and your boss says no more texting or you are fired.

Uh....that's not really the situation here. You're talking about normal people with some random crazy accusation and a somewhat normal human response.

AB's situation is anything but normal. He's now exhibited a very very disturbing pattern of behavior. An employer absolutely would have the right to tell an employee to knock that crap off, especially if it's damaging the brand or the workplace.

Yeah really.

I'd love to know how many of the people here saying "the NFL should do nothing until there's a verdict in the court case" would be doing nothing if some employee was bringing the crazy like this, especially if clients were were putting pressure on them or if other employees were complaining.

this happened now? not months ago?

was always the risk.

That said I think we probably need a back shoulder catch by Harry on 3rd and 12+ before the season is over.

No. The premise was, "Give him a warning about staying quiet or you gone." Not, "Give him a warning about staying quiet or you'll sit a quarter." If you say behavior A will produce B consequence, and you don't dish out B consequence when A behavior happens, that's terrible parenting and terrible coaching and, frankly, a terrible way to lead people.

The mistake might be saying that "you're gone" is the consequence for not keeping quiet. But that was the scenario you offered. If you don't follow through as you say, you are not leading well and not sending the right message.
Not sure where you are coming from.

My only point is if the team says, "Don't do X". and he does Y then the team should punish him.

Sitting him for a quarter is punishment.

If we want to debate does the punishment fit the crime that is a separate discussion.

OMG - I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering, whether he's innocent or not, AB is becoming a weight that the Pats might not be willing to carry all season long. This thread is a great example.

Up to now I've been willing to wait until this all played out thinking that things would calm down at LEAST until Goodell made a decision. But now I'm weakening under the constant missives that come out on a daily basis (true, exaggerated, or untrue) it doesn't matter.
What is my breaking point? If there enough constant news to get this thread to 400 pages, then I'll have had enough. At THAT point I'll argue that, despite his obvious talent, AB's presence on the team will be a drag too heavy to bear, and he needs to be gone.

In the mean time I'm hoping he's been getting to meetings on time and has a good game on Sunday. (Sorry, Ben Trollin, wrong AGAIN!)

Pull yourself together man!

I'm not sure I would enjoy going 19-0 with scum like that on the team. There's more to life than football. This man is deranged. If the Pats cutting Brown means no SB this season than so be it. They have six SB's. I'm a human being before a football fan. This poor girl has been through hell.

Cut your losses now Bill.
I think we should hold on to him hard.

I think this will go to 1,000 pages.

My point is that IF the Patriots said, "Any more of this and you're gone" (which was what the poster I originally cited said the Pats have probably done), and he continues in that behavior, then they need to cut him like they said they would. ("...and you're gone" indicating what the consequence would be for that behavior)

If you say you're cutting a guy if he does X, and the guy does, in fact, do X, then you need to cut him. So if you're not planning on cutting him if he does X, then don't tell him you're gonna cut him if he does X.

Make sense?

nice presser Bill

Bill is "looking into things with Antonio" he said

You are very condescending. I have nothing to be sorry about. Nothing to "figure out."

Him and that Bruinz dude revert to name calling when they get challenged on something. It's a consistent behavior with them

we did it! longest thread on PatsFans forum...ABout a guy that's been with us basically 2 weeks (one scrimmage)

Belichick says, "we take all situations with our team very seriously", and "there are some things we're looking into".

Clearly they're not dismissing this as some media-driven agenda that's irrelevant to Brown or the team.
