Adam Vinatieri set to retire?

I think nobody had HDTV in 2002

Great player, great guy, great career.. Wish him only the best in his retirement

I was watching on a 32" tube TV...it was hard to see.

I have a friend who is a Broncos fan....he watched that game with a bunch of folks on a Rabbit eared TV while all of them popped some tabs of acid.....

He said the whole game was fuzzy, LOL!!!

He had a great career, he ways always clutch for us, shame to see him retire but it’s time for him to hang it up.

If so, it would be so sad to see it end this way. It's not as sad, but I remember feeling like I hated seeing Kobe be a shell of himself by the end. I'm more upset about AV.
I disagree, I like when guys get all they can out of their talent. Sportswriters are always telling guys to retire, to quit when they’re at the top. Nonsense. Get carried out on your shield.

He's so old that people probably forget that he chased down Herschel Walker from behind and tackled him on a breakaway kick return.

Adam Vinatieri: Herschel Walker was shocked I tackled him

Think about that.

Herschel's college football career ended in 1982, he went pro that year after 3 years in college, and here we have a guy who tracked him down in 1996, now retiring in 2019.

That's a 37-year span in pro football history.

I will always be thankful for those clutch kicks, but he’s still a kicker. AV is better than Jan stanarud who is a HOF. My spellcheck won’t let me type the guy’s name.

He left and went to the Colts. So many other players have had the same opportunity over the years and stayed. Screw him.

I certainly had no idea. That's crazy.

Herschel Walker looks younger than a lot of guys in the league. So it's not as wild to me

Some people had HDTV in 2002.

HDTV has been around since the 80s

wish the Pats pay him

To be fair, the reason BB didn't want to* pay him is that his kickoffs were already starting to decline. Remember that he didn't kickoff for most of his time in Indy.

*He actually relented and agreed to what AV wanted, but by that point AV had started negotiating with the Colts.

He also attempted an NFL comeback not that long ago lol

Ted Johnson mentioned tonight on the post game that the offers were essentially the same.

There was a rumor going around at the time that AV was not happy with the Pats and felt disrespected. Not sure whether it was because of money or not.

If he retires....I will always love him for that 46 yard line drive to tie the snow game on January 19th, 2002....before I even had a HDTV......

Definitely back in the ole trinatron tube days for me too

I think he means he's being traded to the Pats. I mean, c'mon, Gostkowski?

Belichick chose not to pay him what others would. It’s a business and he knew that kicking indoors would prolong his career. Vinatieri is a very important part of the Pats history and will one day wear a red HOF jacket and a yellow HOF jacket.

Which would mean no players are left from the 20th century..
<pedantic>The last second of the 20th century was 23:59:59 on December 31, 2000, as there is no year zero in the calendar. The first century was 1-100. The second century was 101-200...the 20th century was 1901-2000.</pedantic>
So Brady is the final 20th-century player standing if AV retires.

IIRC Vinatieri was POd after being franchised and there was some bad blood there.
