The Dallas Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott agree on a 6-year, $90M extension that makes him the highest-paid RB in the NFL. (via Ian Rapoport + Jane Slater)

Good move in 1982

Overpay, but of the 2 players I’d pay 90 over 6 to zeke than the reported 40 mil a year that Dak wants.

So much guaranteed money for a rb.
Expect a down year for Zeke since he missed training camp.

I'm sure this is confirmation bias on my part, but I feel like most of the time we see these record breaking contracts for RB's, they suffer a season ending injury early in the year. I'm not wishing this on him, I'm just feelin' the bad magumbo.

He is the straw that stirs the drink down in Jerrah World
The team crusher will be when Jerrah opens the vault for Ordinary Dak.

Regardless....with Jason Garrett as coach this team could line up a fleet of All Pros and still miss the playoffs

Personally I think that is crazy money for a RB even if he is damn good. But as long as the cap keeps growing and drafted players remain a cheap labor force for 3-5 years it will not create a big hole in their wallet. Also lets see how healthy he stays as the hits accumulate.

Good for Zeke for getting this money. After taxes, missing games due to injury, taking care of his family and homies, bad investments etc he'll be lucky to see 1/3rd of this.

I really don't know how they will handle Dak. Hes competent but not elite. Dak needs Zeke to be successful. Are they really going to tie up 30% of their cap on two players?

If im Jerry Jones Im offering Dak the Jacoby contract and asking him to find a better deal.
Spoiler alert he wont be able to.

Tough roster decisions when you don’t have an elite QB.
If the NFL had a WAR stat like in baseball (maybe they do), Zeke would likely be at the top of the list for non QBs. Jerrah had no choice. Jerrah has a 100,000 seat stadium full of the most loyal fans to entertain and he is not about to take a step backwards, value be damned.
The Dak contract though..... Jerrah will need to pinch his nose as he chews on that one.
Pending team motto: No Turning Back Now.

His formula can win .....maybe once.... during the duration these contracts. It will require near perfect roster health and a stingy D....refer to the Ravens

He found the glory hole thanks to this man.

The Moe Howard is back!

Hes a slightly above average QB. If DAL gives him $40m guaranteed they are absolutely crazy

Don't think Jerruh could try any harder to beat himself than he already has.

My fantasy football team says thank you

Imagine taking the handoff 25-30 times a game and getting slammed, twisted, pulverized, tackled by multiple 320 lb DL, 270 lb LBs, and sneaky Safeties leading with their head.
Being a feature back in the NFL is almost the equivalent of being the soldier who leads the charge across the open field at Gettysburg.

The NFL should have a side fund for RBs with bonuses paid per carry. If a 200lb RB is tackled by 900lbs of defensive meat, the RB gets $1 per pound of the difference = $700. Bonuses for shots to knees, spine, kidneys

I don't dislike any of the players Dallas has been extending (Zeke, Smith, Collins, Lawrence) but they're going to be WAAAAY too top heavy in a couple seasons.

I just had a jolt of déjà vu. The rookie contract is running out on a good-but-not-special Cowboys quarterback. It's going to take a monster contract he isn't really worth to keep him, but if he walks, then what? Here's what I posted on patsfans 12 years ago:

If you look around the league at this point, how many "franchise" QBs are there? Compared to Brady and Manning Romo doesn't look like much at all. But he's holding his own in the 2nd tier -- and even that 2nd tier is pretty scanty.

Consider the lineup of supposed "up-and-coming," "he's-young-give-him-time," "NFL's future" guys: Campbell, Cutler, E. Manning, Rivers, Young. Every one is a 1st-round pick, most have more game experience than Romo, and he's clearly outplaying every one of them.

The chances of finding a better QB than Romo are slim, you have to cross your fingers and do this deal.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Right you can’t pay everyone

BB would have laughed and traded his ass. Next man up.

Thank god we have BB and not Jerruh.
