NBA Draft - Trades - Free Agents

that's an angle........but I am sure that the fact that the entire team has sucked ever since he's been there has nothing to do with it *end sarcasm*

Article is crap ... hard to be clutch when you are the only scorer on a team.
Also - Irving was not clutch at all this year ... he was horrendous.
My point still stands that Kemba Walker is Not a $35M/year player.

Maybe not but Average Al wasn't worth his either ... even healthy nor was Hayward.
Let's face it most of the top free agents every year are an overpay.

I think most all players possibly on their radar are all over priced but that's the market.

Kawhi to the #Lakeshow would be funny and entertaining. The hate towards LAL would be greater than towards GSW lol.

Because an undersized, inefficient point guard is not worth $35m a year.

When you are comparing Walker to Durant in a value context, you need to know that you've gone too far.

Comments:

1.) Walker is 6'1"...the average NBA PG is approx 6'2". Not exactly undersized in my book...hell..John Stockton was 6'1"...so was Nate Archibald...Terry Rozier too.....most PG's will get posted up when they have to switch off on defense...it is what it is.

2.) Per this link NBA statistics, efficiency ratings. Point Guards. Basslinespin.com 2018-19 NBA regular season. Walker was the 5th most efficient PG going into the 2018-2019 season (Kyrie was #2, BTW).

3.) I was not comparing Walker vs. Durant in a value context. I was comparing ages...if we expect Durant to play at a high level from 30-34...we can expect the same from Walker (and Horford showed us he was OK between 30-33). NBA players have far more longevity these days than they used to due to advances made in conditioning, so it stands to reason that teams can still expect elite level of play through a player's mid-30's.

I'm surprised by the volume of hate towards KD. Because of the history I can see OKC but he comes across as generally likeable. No?

IMO, he used to be likeable until he joined a "Super Team".....the same way LeBron was unlikable in Miami following the "decision".

I mean Durant couldn't get over the hump with Harden/Westbrook....then again later with a good OK City squad....and joins the Warriors and gets two rings out of it.

Dunno....I think people like to see players struggle before winning it all....

Personally, I am indifferent to Durant....and would have loved to sign him 3 summers ago (shrugs).

I guess I see it. I just don't think going to GSW warrants hate/dislike.

LeBron with the diva-doochy attitude....that I can see.

If Celts fans cheer when Cryrie comes here I will go ape-****. That SOB needs to be boo'd every time he touches the ball.

That article is pure garbage.

The writer took Walker's eFG% at the last five minutes of games/OT...and compared it vs. all time eFG%.

Go to the basketball reference link provided...and flip the eFG% chart....only Khalid El Amin is a name I recognized in the top 15.....

if you look at his splits, his late game numbers aren't that great but it is aggravated by the frequency at which he is trying to bring the team back from 8 down with 2 min left......by himself

but hey......it won't be loke the 20/20 hindsight with Irving.......the fellowship of the miserable is hating on everything right now with the hope that the stopped clock theory will work out

I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that one.

If that is going to happen I wouldn't sign Kemba Walker we couldn't beat them in our Dreams. Lebron - Davis and Kawhi Leonard are all Elite at their respective positions. They are all Great on the Defensive end too...Three Elite two way players. LA is now Title Town.

...and Jackie brings it all together here.

Blame Kyrie? It's not that simple, Boston

It was Irving, It was Horford, It was Morris....the leadership sucked and no.......that comment about winning a championship and what it takes is BS.....it took 48 minutes of Lebron in each of the last to games to beat these guys who didn't know what it takes......where the f*ck was he game 7?

It's not his fault, but Irving sucks as a leader and Horford isn't much better.......let's see how it goes with Smart, Brown, and a healthy Hayward.....Tatum ain't a chief

As a Lakers fan, it would be great to add another superstar player, but it’s bad for the NBA. Kahwi should stay in Toronto. Kyrie should go to Nets or the Knicks. Klay Thompson should start his own thing elsewhere, but he has a valid excuse to stay with the Warriors because they drafted him.

The NBA is at its best when star players are scattered throughout the league. Creating “super teams” are the biggest cop out in sports. LeBron really has never won a title legitimately. He just goes to the best situation. Same with Kevin Durant. It’s one thing to leave OKC for another team because Russell Westbrook is a head case, but to leave the team you choked away a 3-1 lead on the Warriors to and then join that team is a punk move. Anthony Davis forcing his way out of New Orleans one year earlier was a punk move as well.

Even with Kawhi going to the Lakers, I'd not be too concerned for the following reasons:

a.) Depth....you still need 2 more starters and an entire bench or you'll wear out that trio.

b.) We would only be playing them in the NBA Finals....which would be good for us.

And to add...I sincerely hope Kyrie ends up in L.A. I really want to heckle my Laker Flake Fickle Fan "friends" all year next year when Kyrie implodes the Lakers....

Count me among those who question Danny's play to get Walker. Nothing against the player per se, I see him a guy who has 90% of Kyrie's talent (which makes him all star quality, but only a top 20 player), but will likely be a much better teammate and leader.

I question the COST and how it affect the team building process. If he had more cap room, I wouldn't have any misgivings to add Walker. But we currently have a GAPING hole in the middle of this team and little or no money to affect a reasonable replacement for Al Horford. That's going to be hard to do when you effectively still have to replace, Horford, Morris, and Banes. Those are a LOT of Bigs to have to replace. Also you have to figure you are now replacing Rozier with a rookie 2nd rounder.

BTW- I REALLY like the future of Robert Williams. Let us not forget that it often takes a LOT of time for big men to develop. Yanis averaged 6 points per game while playing an average of 24 minutes a game his rookie year. He doubled that in his second year averaging over 30mpg.

Williams averaged 8mpg in the 32 games he played in. Unfortunately for him Williams was playing behind Horford, Banes, and Theis so we rarely got to see him. But he displayed flashes of dominating defense. All that being said, you certainly can't count on him to be your primary big if you want to progress beyond the 2nd round. Hopefully he'll get a lot more playing time this season.....and his bigger and stronger this season.

That's why I'm not on board with the Walker addition, and won't be unhappy if it doesn't happen. But I won't be totally unhappy if he does come aboard. He's a really good player and maybe Danny will surprise us with a myriad of other moves that will end up watching a try hard, team oriented, easy to like team that has the potential to win a title.

Patience. The off season for the C's won't end next week

I would be shocked if he goes there now. Apparently, he didn’t like being low on the totem pole in SA, so it wouldn’t make sense going to LA Lakers now.

I see the Lakers exploring their options on the superstar players first but ultimately fleshing out the roster with more quality mid tier players.

Too many star players on a team is a recipe for disaster. It did them in in 2003 even though Gary Payton and Karl Malone were old. Gary Payton fighting assistant coaches and Malone hitting on Kobe’s wife when Malone was injured. It was dysfunctional from day 1. Kobe, Gasol, Howard and Nash was also a s**t show from day 1.
