Crazy Edelman is Second to Rice in Playoffs receiving yards and won't even sniff the NFL HOF.
Good to know we take care of our guys. Jules has been underpaid for YEARS.....and extending him now makes him a bargain in the next two seasons...if he were an UFA...he could have seriously commanded up to 14-15M a season....with bozos like AB making 18M a season...
That's what Wes Welker and his agent thought. In actuality, not so much.
I don't know if teams have changed their position on the value of quick receivers or not...

You need to watch the play. Brady threw it where Brady had to throw it and where Welker knew he would. As Collingsworth said at the moment 100 times out of 100 Welker catches that pass. It was virtually a perfect pass if you pay attention to where the defenders were.
I have been critical of Brady as much as anyone in the past few years but I can't believe people still bring "the drop" up and say it was a bad pass. Welker was a AP WR, he is expected to make that catch each time.

He’s got a shot for sure. Career ain’t over yet.Edelman has a decent shot at getting into the HOF, I think. He's 36 playoff receptions behind Jerry Rice - that is doable over two years with Brady. He's at 499 total receptions and could get to 625-630 receptions which puts him in or near the top 50 receivers all-time. Three rings in three appearance with iconic clutch plays (Atlanta 2016). Tough to look past among the players who vote for the finalists.
I blame Brady for the pass he threw. It was barely in reach for Welker after he spun around. I stopped arguing about it years ago.
Edelman does seem to have some drops at times, but in crunch time he's deadly.
He's as tough as nails too.
One of the best return men.
He also seems to be able to make extra yardage where there doesn't seem to be any.
I'm glad he's ours.
He made 50+ catches in his career harder than that. He makes that catch 9 times of 10.When you see the multiple angles of the play (just type in Welker drop gif), especially not the broadcast angle, but the ones from the sideline cameras, it gives a very different perspective on the play.
The pass is borderline perfect, so much so that Welker whipping motion is to immediately grab it and continue to running for extra yardage.
The milisecond he drops it, he sweeps his leg and falls down in an awkward motion. The ball comes out to the side because his hands hit the nose of the ball. It’s a routine catch that looks awkward due to the post-drop contortions that mislead you into thinking he was off-balance - due to adjusting - all along.
Watch when the leg sweep happens. It's after he realizes he dropped it; the leg had been on balance and waiting to get YAC.
Hands on nose of ball.
Routine catch
Body contortion, leg sweep, and fall to ground in milisecond he is trying to bobble catch, causing it look like the pass led him to that off-balance state.
Anyone who thinks the throw was off-line
The real-time view. From this angle it appears that the placement of the ball causes him to go careening off balance. Easy to misunderstand until seeing the other photos and vids from different angles. But the reason the ball goes flying towards the sidelines -and he appears to lose balance - is because of the drop and subsequent volleyball punch effect from his bouncing off his closed together hands on the nose of the ball.

It wasn’t easy as pie. But the ball was well-thrown, away from inside coverage. He should have made the catch and everyone knows it.It was a routine catch.

It was a good throw but the catch is not one Welker “has made 100 times”. He rarely left his feet to make catches, rarely had to reach over his head, rarely had to contort his body in that way. Probably, he never made a catch with all three of those elements as a Patriot. Still, as a professional, pro bowl receiver of footballs, he HAS to make that play.
