Scott Pioli has left the Falcons and where will he wind up?? Maybe with his long time friend and mentor BB??

Would be an interesting move, but what will happen to loyal soldier Nick Caserio?? After the Watson and Collins signing there seems to be value in bringing NFL hardened folks back into the loving arms of the Patriots.

Or it could be just another article that means nothing..

Or maybe it is just fodder for Sportstalk Radio, where Bertram, Felger et al can rant and rave about do we really want Pioli back???

What if it's the Dreaded J-E-S-T-S?

Their GM Opening HAS to be attractive for a huge number of candidates. If they can turn THAT mess around....they can write their own ticket for the rest of their career.

Pioli was fine here but I like the Caserio/BB/Ossy combo as it's worked pretty damn well.

Maybe he can fill the Floyd Reese / Lombardi double-secret probation role?

I have no problem w Pioli going to the Jests. He hasn't exactly proven he can lead a franchise to long term success.

Everyone thinks Gase is going after his guy since Gase is a incredibly weird dude that makes sense I don't sense he's buddy buddy with alot of people.
Everyone thinks this assistant on the Eagles will leave to be the Jets GM.
Pioli is either coming here or Miami in my opinion.

Why though ?

Caserio and BB have been running the ship for almost forever perfectly well.

Bobby Grier's kid is running the Fins now.

Aside from the Jests, I don't see another org looking to hire a GM type anytime soon.

He might want to retire at this point but, if he’s down for a reunion, I’d have him back. You can never have enough smart, veteran voices in there with BB that he respects.

He may be able to contribute

I don’t see him coming here. It is very rare a member of the front office or coaching staff leaves but comes back. I know McDaniels did but it certainly isn’t common.

Him going to the NYJ sure does make an awful lot of sense though.

Doubt it. Don’t care. Everything is fine in Patriots world as it is.

Yeah but that’s not a reason to rest on your laurels. You should always be looking for ways to improve. I don’t see any negatives with bringing Pioli back in some capacity. Granted, that’s if he wants to come back. If I were him, I’d probably retire but some guys just love the grind.

It seems to me that personnel acquisitions, both via free agency and the draft (especially the draft), have improved since Pioli's departure and Caserio's arrival.

This shift has been especially noticeable when evaluating the drafting of DBs and RBs, and hopefully the trend continues at WR with the drafting of N'Keal.

That said, we did find some studs in the defensive front-7 and OL under Pioli.

God I hope, BB the GM is KILLING THIS TEAM, MIKE!

I always felt like Pioli was overrated for some reason I can't put my finger on.

When I heard the news I didn't even think Pioli was coming back here. I thought more that maybe he was going to the Jets, which made me kind of mad, even though I agree with those who have said he hasn't done all that much since leaving NE.

Seems like Teams got remarkable better when Pioli left j/k.:D

He was a train wreck in KC. He may have some value but I would not put him in the same class as Dimitroff.

In theory, Pioli set the board and BB made the picks. He also had pro personnel and found a lot of players who contributed to Dynasty v1.0

If we go by the drafts of 2000 from 2008 below are the players that did something..

2000- Brady
2001- Sey, Light
2002- Graham, Branch, Green, Givens
2003- Warren, Wilson, Asante, Koppen, TBC, Bethel
2004- VW, Watson
2005- Mankins, Hobbs, Sanders, Kazur, Cassel
2006- Maroney, Gost, Mincey
2007- Big Bang Clock
2008-Mayo, Slater

Clearly some All-Pros and contributors there but I'm not sure how we hold Pioli accountable when history tells us its BB and the system that wins and its not Pioli's ability?
