Everyone Seems VERY Happy With This Draft So Far

Only thing I haven't liked is that none of the premier DTs fell to the Pats. Was hoping for Dexter Lawrence or someone like that.

Otherwise...I cannot remember going into Day 3 with 5 guys already in place who should help the team (although not sure how fast Scar can "fix" Cajuste).

I’d like to see them draft a really big fat guy today for the middle of the DL. Other than that, I’m good.

At this point, they might be better off bringing back Danny Shelton - I thought he was good after his timeout.

I'm sure BB is ecstatic that we patsfans.com posters agree with his drafting approach. Only took him 19 years, but he finally stopped thinking of himself as the smartest man in the room and deferred to the experts. Credit to BB for swallowing his ego.

I included Thomas. I am assuming Burkhead will get released. It'll save the team $3 million I think.

I'm assuming they double up on the two RB roles (running and catching). Michel and Harris (Harris is also better at both catching and pass pro), and White/Burkhead. Bolden is the special teams guy and break glass in case of emergency RB, Devlin is the FB and Jeremy is out.

the more i think about it. the more i hate they drafted a rb at three.

How? Their QB isn't Nick Foles anymore. And we can't embarrass them without Gronk. They didn't play scared against us in the Super Bowl. They're not the Rams.

Just like the Giants, we're going to live this down forever. Eagles fans will make sure to remind us.
Yep. They shoulda kept Big **** Nick.

4 of 6 SB were won without an hof te

0 of 6 have been won without good rb

Harris is an efficient producer and made the most of limited touches

Williams doesn’t have much in common with the other cb....they could be looking to play him at s

They are all athletic high character guys.

Every high pick at wr increases the chances that the next one will be a good one

Cajuste is versatile

Yeah, but he’s a really good person who is really smart, just really slow for a CB. Only difference between him and Jordan Richards is size and position, though I see JoeSlow Williams switching to safety.

I think the role of DB is gonna be blurred in our secondary. We will switch up assignments and coverages. You couldn’t do that with Jordan Richards.

Odd feeling throughout this draft: like the players dont like the draft.

If this was last year - or most other years - id be enthusiastic.

This draft offered unique opportunities for the team always drafting at the bottom though and the predominant feeling is about missed opportunity. Im not a “talent“ person but this draft offered some top talent at low cost and Pats had plenty of ammunition and core team in place to get what they normally can't. They punted and went their usual way - good physical football players with highest character, maturity, leadership (on most part).

So it is this draft as usual approach (that i normally love so much) in a special draft year that has me quite detached..

So Pats did what they usually do that has brought them unprecedented success but you wished they did what every other team does...... got it. Thanks for opining.

Really liking this draft

Harris could be Michael Irvin/ Fitz

Winovich the next Bruschi/ Vrabel/Nink

Can't have enough good RBs with a 42yr old QB

Drafted a Brandon Browner clone who could potentially be a SS later

Multiple weird OLineman names for Dante to turn into studs

.

I'd have liked another WR. I think they had the opportunity to get guys like Brown, Isabella, or even Butler, and didn't.

I like the picks they actually made. They all fill needs. But I can't help but think with as deep a WR draft it would have made sense to double up in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I like the draft ... just 1/3 of the way to acquire players.
We'll probably see a veteran or 2 added during camp cuts.

Smith and Blount were street free agents (or as good as in Blount's first tour). Both were fine players but if that's your definition of a good running back, then it's pretty easy to find a good running back. (Though frankly more important in those SBs were Faulk and White.)

That said, I have no problem with the Harris pick. If there wasn't a tight end worth drafting, you don't reach. The second best running back in the draft was available in the 3rd round. Much weaker crop than last year's but you have a guy who's going to contribute at a position where you need bodies and will be ready to do it right away.

I know some aren't happy & thats fine. Honestly you could make a case for a ton of positions/needs but I'm happy.

All these players were identified as PTP long before the draft. Some over a year before the draft.
Winovich, Harris, Harry, Williams, Wynn, Dawson, Crossen, Berrios, Sam, Rivers, Garcia, Wise, McDermott.

At the very least we're nailing picks. Let the myth that "no one knows who Bill wants, what Bill will do" die. I honestly feel this draft board is as good as its ever been in that respect. I might be wrong but I doubt it!

‘Let the myth die that no one knows what BB wants and what he will do next”??????

I was going to post something to the effect of “Don’t fool yourself. It is real and it is no myth”

And then he drafted a punter.

Smith was very good in 2001. In 2003, It was all about the defense but smith and Faulk were very effective in the playoffs. Corey Dillon .... the last 3, the definition had changed but vereen, White, and Michel were heroes

My draft grade for this draft is an A-. If we got a good TE and DT...it would be an A+. Still, this was one of the better drafts in recent years for BB. Love the Winovich pick! He is the steal of the draft imho!

I have to say, ever since I discovered this forum in 2013, this seems the most positive the board has ever been about a draft. Usually we are inundated with 'he is a bum' comments but you all seem pretty chuffed. As I don't get college football over here on my SKY package I look to you all at this time of year, and you have put me in a great mood.

My only real question is how the new CB projects. Gilmore and JC are excellent, so does this mean Dawson is falling down the depth chart, J-Mac could be on his way to safety, and Crossen is the odd man out?

Here's my pattern after every draft, trade or signing:

1. I feel positive. Think I see huge potential for each player to be a contributor. " Shelton is going be a beast " type stuff.

2. Deus and others begin to stomp on my overly optimistic dreams slowly into the mud. I debate and argue otherwise.

3. Six months or so later I admit that I might have been a bit overly optimistic.

But this year is different. I actually really think this draft was great. :D

I’m not wowed by Cajuste, who I think has great size, but ok technique and balance. Maybe he blossoms under Dante.
Maybe? Maybe mice like cheese or dogs bark when they hear the UPS truck.

Maybe green beer is served at St Patrick’s Day.

If he can keep his health sand Dante can keep coaching, heck yeah!
