Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

Someone light the Britt signal in Foxboro!

Kenny Britt makes his triumphant return in 3...2....1.....

Todd no thanks we already have Dorsett and Patterson.:D

We'll be better off without him. He has great hands but was mostly effective on slants, 2 or 3 catches a game. I wanted Patterson and Dorsett to have more chances.

I disagree. I think he's been a very solid contributor for us since he got here, which is why he'd earned more snaps on regular offense than players like Dorsett or Patterson. I'll concede that we may be better off without him rather than the version in Pittsburgh that may not have been all there mentally, but there's no argument that we're better with the Gordon we had prior to that than we are with anyone else currently on the roster getting those reps.

I appreciate Josh Gordon’s contributions to the team and truly wish him the best. I have no doubt that he tried his absolute best to stay sober and not let down the Patriots and his teammates. I really liked the guy, not just for his athleticism but his modesty, work ethic, and high intelligence. Addiction does not destroy all the good qualities about someone, and I don’t see this as a total failure. There may have been additional losses had we not picked up JG. Though I’m doubtful, it’s possible he’ll be able to battle addiction better without the pressure that comes along with being a professional athlete. Unfortunately there are Josh Gordons all around us, in our cities, neighborhoods, and even families who battle this every day outside the spot light. Best wishes and many hopes that science can provide better answers for Josh Gordon and literally about a billion others who are battling with addiction and want to stop but can’t.

I’m glad the overwhelming majority of fans have been understanding and positive about this disappointing but not that surprising turn of events. As a huge silver lining, Josh Gordon is still alive and there’s hope for him. I hope he has a lot of people who care about him not just for earning power and football talent because he’ll need them.

This has been the craziest season that I have ever seen.

Levon Bell, the high scores, Kareem Hunt, Gordon in and Gordon out. Oakland Raiders fire sale.

You think he publicly announced he is stepping away from football for mental health reasons so he could have a week off?
Yes, I have it on good authority that Belichick was gonna make him run laps around the field this week while everyone else practiced. The joke's on Belichick though, Gordon will be well rested and ready to put up 150 yards on the Jets.

Damn. This year continues to go down the tubes.

At some time the Homers just need to relent and admit that it just isn’t our year.

Most of them are homers because they're front runners, bandwagon fans, or fair weather fans. You won't get that admission out of them. They'll just go into radio silence on here. When the team completely falls apart and Belichick and Brady retire, you won't see them post here until the team starts winning again.

VP not happening on this side of the ledger too many spin doctors around here an they know who they are. I am not giving up will watch until the end but even they have to admit even with Gordon the Talent in 2018 is paltry.

Outstanding

Just what the team needed as we head into the playoffs

A Super Bowl win this year, with this team, would be the greatest accomplishment ever for Belichick/Brady.

The ups and downs, twists and turns this season have been insane.

BB needs to do a motivational movie or speech for the team right now.
Trying to think of a good one that would be relatable.
Something where the said star or top guy is out or goes down and agaisnt insurmountable odds.
They triumph.

Glass half full take:

If any team in the league can overcome this- it’s this one. No-one else.

If they didn’t let Deflategate torpedo their Super Bowl this wont torpedo the season either. Book it.
There is a dynamic where adversity helps a team.

No. He needs to focus on fundamentals, opponent scouting, smart football and strong game plans.

Once again we find ourselves in a predicament. We don't have a WR1 and it's back to Edelman and his continuous drops.

Letting Amendola to walk was a huge mistake now once again.

Amendola has 500 yards an 1 TD this year - he dropped a big pass against the Patriots 2 weeks ago.

I've always been a DA fan and wish for nothing but the best for him, but let's not pretend that he would be the answer to this year's team.

I'm surprised the team hasn't released him. They even put out a supporting statement. Maybe he was transparent with the team and they saw he was truly trying to battle with his issues?

Ohhh man we’re so screwed.

Welp, the rest of the season is moot. However far we get in the postseason should be considered a bonus.

If you guys don't believe Brady can get back to a short passing attack with Edelman White and Burkhead. And have Hogan/Patterson stretch field while Gronk fills the middle. If you don't think he can have success with that formula then I don't know what you've been watching for 15 years.
Actually, many of us watched the failing NE passing attack early this season without Gordon.

Hogan stretching the field :) ....good one

A better question....What have you been watching?
