Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

I was in the process of trying to delude myself into thinking we could still make a run this year but I can only delude myself so much. It's over.

Absolutely devestating news....Haven’t heard much about this yet… Can only imagine that he failed another drug test and is facing another suspension… The timing of this is horrible… Devastating to our already weak offense

He just posted on his twitter (link below) that he's stepping away from football. Doesn't look like he was hacked. Really sad to see, the poor guy must be fighting so many demons

Probably got caught again for violating the league's drug policy. Oh well, next man up, wishing Mr Gordon good luck on his journey to recovery.

Blow it up after the season. I’m serious, minimal talent and old, time to start fresh no GM is fixing this team in one offseason.
Oh there's plenty to blow up.

Gotta figure they won't pay top dollar to any of these guys. Flowers is gonna get paid. Add to that the uncertainty with Gronk, and his huge cap number ($12m). I am of the opinion, based on the track record of the organization, that there is no way they are gonna pay him. Edelman's cap number is much more palatable at $4.6m, but he's certainly looking 32 years old this year.

Oh, by the way, our QB is 41, and our HC is gonna be 67. McDaniels might leave as well.

But in regards to fixing it in one off season, look up the 2001 roster. It can be done.

He was practicing his week though (wasn’t he?)

He was reported to have been on the field and in uniform, along with everyone else, during the beginning of practice (warmups) when the media has access. We don't know what happened after that.

It's possible that the Pats had some preliminary notification last week that a failed test notice/suspension could be forthcoming, but the team really couldn't take any action until the league officially confirmed it to them. Apparently, that happened after yesterday's practice.

time for the teams core on offense to put their heads down and just get back to work.

Going to need real big efforts from Tom, Jules, James and Rob.

Don’t know if him cheating on his GF led him to start doing drugs again but this man has issues

Dylan Gonzalez IG Story Implies She Broke Up With Patriots Josh Gordon For Cheating (Pics-Vids-IG)
That could put you over the edge for sure.
Patriots nation hates you Dylan jk.
Seriously though a woman can really wreck a delicate minded man.
I'm sure she was within reason if he cheated on her.
I always feel you should be forgiven if you seek help and all depends on the situation.
Girls can be very seductive.
For all we know she was blowing weed In his face and straddling him.
She could be public enemy number 1.

Glass half full take:

If any team in the league can overcome this- it’s this one. No-one else.

If they didn’t let Deflategate torpedo their Super Bowl this wont torpedo the season either. Book it.

The player (or his agent as authorised) is the only one that can legally disclose the substance. As for no one getting excited about weed, I was referring to it's use. Everyone and his brother gets excited about someone getting suspended for it though, whether or not that was really the substance ;)

Thanks. I didn't know if that rule crossed both policies. Maybe he still is abusing Coke and Codine (I believe those were the drugs he talked about in the piece written about him some years ago). If so, then fair to call him more than just a Pothead.

And yes, OT, but there is a large swath of this country that finds THC consumption worthy of excitement. Come on down to my neck of the woods and we can have the convo with some Bubbahs about how weed is bad and a gateway drug while they pound a suitcase of Busch Lights without noting even the slightest bit of hypocrisy or self introspection.

Pats put themselves in this position...they KNEW Malcolm Mitchell was an injury guy when they drafted him, then they ****ed up the Jordan Matthews situation, and of course they let Amendola go, they redshirted Berrios...all these bad decisions forced them to get a scrap heap five time loser like Gordon....
Yup. Getting rid of Matthews looks worse every day. We were better off just holding on and waiting him out, but they got spooked with the Edelman suspension

Can't agree, good corners, better pressure this year, need a run stopper and a linebacker.
Offensive line is stable, good RBs, need a WR, I'm not giving up on Gronk, TB can still throw, needs to stand up and take the hits, I think his competitive nature will get him back on track. I know all the GMs on the board that know better than BB will have a better plan. I'll drink a little more Kool Aid and stick with BB.

The Browns have been through this time and time again. They always stood by their Josh until the final straw this preseason.

After having all off season to get ready for training camp, Josh Gordon announced days before camp that he was ...stepping away from the game to work on himself. I mean, what kind of heartless person would not have the Kleenex out? Life is not fair.

You have this juvenile idiot and then you have the real men like Eric Berry and Marcus Cannon fighting cancer just to get well and play in the NFL. God bless them. I fully support those guys and the idiot with the self inflicted gun shot wound.
Definitely, because mental health issues and cancer battles are exactly the same and in no way differ from one another. It's like what every doctor says to their patients dealing with depression: "How dare you have a chemical imbalance or some form of mental instability. Quit being such a whiny, selfish little *****."
It's a wonderful alternative for those who are ambivalent about taking anti-depressants.

fng pathetic to hammer this guy - from drugs to alcohol to porn - addiction is rampant in our society. He tried and exceeded most people's expectations with this team. As far as the team is concerned - next man up - or not..

don't forget gambling, video games

It's apples and oranges. The thing is with Josh is that he's the kind of guy who's talent would lead him to a huge contract. He never got that because his problems got in the way. That's how serious his ADDICTION is. Everybody has their issues and it comes in different varieties. Who knows maybe in your next life you come back as an alcohol/drug addict only to understand what it's like to walk that path in life.

Well that's the least of our problems.:D
