"Abandoning the run" is somewhat relative. Coming into the game, the Vikes had been running the ball less than 35% of the time, anyway - lowest percentage in the NFL, IIRC. Against the Pats, they "dropped down" to 23%.

The Pats minimum run percentage this season has been 33%, IIRC, and they're averaging close to 45%.
There is a strong chance Shelton might be inactive vs MIA. All depends on how much BB respects Gore still.

BB didn't need extra time to decide whether to throw the flag it was obvious to everyone the pats, the vikings, the fans in the stands and the millions watching that murry didn't make the first down, i don't think he made it back to the line of scrimmage

He barely made it back to the LOS, but that's it. Guy and Brown did a phenomenal job stoning Murray on that play..

That's the knock against Defilippo. It's criminal , imho, that with a talent such as Dalvin Cook that they stop using the run game the way they do.

@BadMoFo - So you don't believe that Harmon and Jonathan Jones saved the game yesterday after Brady threw the bad interception? Please do tell..

Gronk played 73 of 74 offensive snaps yesterday. Although it looked to me like he was playing through soreness/stiffness, even pain for most of the game, he didn't take himself out, and the Pats must have thought he was getting the job done or they would have pulled him.

I have no idea what any of this has to do with what "rhetoric" was being reported or willfully mis-interpreted by WEEI and others during the off-season. What I do know is that the ***holes in the media make mountains out of molehills and even make sh it up out of whole cloth all the damn time because ... RATINGS!

It's really a shame that so many people treat their crap as clever or profound "insight" or fact. There's only as much "truth" there as people are willing to fall for.

Gronk looked like a player who's returning from a locked up back and having a slight setback. He was able to move forward with a little stiffness in order to do what he could to help, but he struggled holding balance and strength when he was in a position where he needed to rotate left or right.

He really looks like he needs a couple of weeks of nothing but rest and massage, but that's obviously not conducive to in-season NFL.

Man, if Bentley didn't get injured we'd be hopefully watching his and JC's rises to prominent roles at the same time.

It’s not “one person” reporting some of this. This has been written and tweeted and reported by numerous media persons since Gronks Post Super Bowl press conference.

This isn’t #fakenews where there is smoke there is fire.

Some of you need to get over deflategate it happened it’s over continuing to cry over it isn’t going to change the outcome.

Don’t know what the argument is but if you have followed defame gate then you know news regarding the pats can be as real as unicorns and goblins when the mediots get involved.

I think Bentley already had a prominent role before he got hurt, no?

Either way the future for those two looks pret-tay,pret-tay,pret-tay,pret-tay,pret-tay good.

I wonder if he'd be playing so much if Allen were healthy? Allen returned to practice last week so we'll have to see how it goes. Perhaps he can make it back next week. Gronk also appeared to tweak his ankle Sunday and that isn't going to feel better today.

I agree about the way the Pats defense played. However, in retrospect, I'm not entirely sure that the Vikes' offense is significantly better than the Jete with McCown, the Bills with Anderson, or the 'Fins with .... well, anybody they have at QB.

The Vikings have a gunslinger with two great WRs. Combined they did great against other team and zero against the Pats. I think our defensive plan and the execution was the best we have seen this season. As for our offense that still needs work to catch up. As far as the Jets that was a so so game for the Pats on both sides IMO. Going into the game we should have blown them away. I don't think 14 points difference is blown away. As for the Bills now Allen is QB and his running is something we need to consider. I think they are a bigger problem than the Fins, and the Jets in our remaining schedule. That's not to say we won't win. IMO it will be the tougher game of three mentioned So overall I don't agree that the Vikings offense is equal to the others you mentioned. We contained them that's why they didn't look impressive and maybe looked like the offense of the Jets, Fins and Bills without Allen. BTW Bills have a great defense.

Bentley played 69%, 42% and 78% of the D-snaps in the first three games (2 starts), while averaging 15 ST snaps per game, too. He posted 14 tackles, a TFL, a QBH and a pick.

Yeah, I just think they might become major contributors for the next 3-5 years (or longer if signed to longer contracts) and it'd be fun to see them coming up together.

I kind of forgot about Bentley.

This has nothing to do with "deflategate". This comes from understanding the actual business ($-wise) of the media, and how button-pushing media narratives are developed and propagated, and how people get suckered in by propaganda techniques.

"Where there is smoke there is fire" only means to me that you're eager to get played.

Considering the Patriots almost traded the guy the safe assumption is that the business relationship isn't exactly perfect. Dismissing news reports that go along with that as fake news seems more about not wanting to hear it than any real belief in rigorous journalistic standards.

Rushing to call the Gronk story stuff 'fake news' just sounds like the person is angry because they don't like the news they're reading.

Loved the defense and our offense started on fire. Edelman threw off our rhythm and Gronk isn't playing like the Gronk we have seen over the years. There is a chance we completely blow out the Vikings if Gronk would have gotten that first down.

Our D played great, but they weren't truly tested. The Vikings gave up on the run way too soon and didn't seem to attack our linebackers in coverage.

I am somewhat concerned that Dawson is going to play at some point and ruin this rotation we have going in the secondary. Our defense is still coming together and I wonder if Shelton is going to be a permanent inactive going forward.

The Vikes don't run the ball much, so it's difficult to tell if they actually "gave up" or just did what they do every game.

Cousins "attacked" Pats LBs only four times, but then the Vikes don't typically throw short stuff and underneath nearly as much as we're accustomed to seeing. The LBs gave up four catches on four targets for a combined total of three yards. KVN, HT and Roberts have been collectively targeted 4.75 times per game, giving up 3.25 catches for a 7.7 ypc.

When Dawson finally plays, it's likely he'll get eased in 10-12 snaps per game for at least the first couple games, like both Jackson and Melifonwu have been. However, if the Pats are beating the snot out of the 'Fins by the start of the 4th-Q next Sunday, both Dawson and Melifonwu could see a few more than that.

I don't know whether or not Shelton will be a "healthy scratch" from here on out. It may or may not depend on the opponent-specific game plan. After averaging nearly 48% of the D-snaps through the KCY game, Shelton's participation has been 34%, 28%, 4%, 37%, 14% and HS. So, it could be that he's done unless someone gets dinged up.

Trent Brown blew the play and let a rusher come in untouched. Brady had to get rid of the ball. The defender knew the call, was sitting on the outlet, and jumped in.

It was a good play call by the Vikings, a terrible play call by the Patriots (your only enemy there is a turnover, and killing the clock is the goal, so you don't need that throw), a huge screw up by Brown, a bad decision by Brady* (should have thrown it out of bounds or taken the sack), and a good play by the defender making the pick.

*I include Brady here because I can't remember whether or not he was hit mid-throw, which could certainly have impacted football placement, though it would probably not have been enough to turn a throw away to the sidelines into a pass catchable for the defender.
He was hit after he released the pass. But you can tell he was affected by seeing the pressure out of the corners of his eyes
