How the Celtic should build over the next 2 years

Just my thoughts. The key part of this whole idea is only possible because of Brown but particularly Tatum. I thought Jaylen Brown would be a good player and he is. I think he will be a pretty good scorer for the rest of his career but I don't think he will ever be a franchise #1 player. Jayson Tatum I believe is that kind of player. I believe he will be a top 10 and maybe top 5 player in this league and that to me changes how I think the Celtics should handle things.

The key for me at this point is, assuming Tatum shows in his 2nd year he is that kind of player, to move value into the future steadily. The first thing they have to do is trade Rozier after these playoffs. It would be nice to have him coming off the bench next year but it is a sacrifice I think you have to make.

Don't trade him for a player. Trade him for draft pick capital. The next move is the really shocking one. After next year if you can get good value you trade Gordon Hayward. He needs to show he is back from his injury of course but assuming he does this is the tough move you make.

After next season he will be 29 years old and have 2 years left on his contract. It suck to let such a player walk but no one will give us a "godfather" type deal for a guy or guys on the wrong side of 30. Kyrie is 2 years younger and cheaper and better. He is the one you keep for sure.

The whole point of trading Hayward is either get a top draft pick and target a player you like or you trade him for the young up and coming player.

It resets things for the Tatum/Brown window a bit. Now you have your 3 max contracts ready and you have another young star into the fold (assuming they hit on their pick/player) which will be cheap for years and is closer to the age of the core of Brown/Tatum.

I know that is a big move to make but these playoffs have made me rethink things. If you are successful able to trade Rozier for a future asset and add that to what Hayward can get you then you can have a young big 3 all under 24.

That would be amazing.

Stevens will never, ever go for trading Hayward.

During the ridiculously long draft lottery program, Jay Bilas listed Rim Protection and Bench Scoring from Wings as the Cs main needs. Maybe the under-utilized Greg Monroe can help with the first need, especially after a full training camp, but I don't know what can be done about the second need. There's only one draft pick this year (#27) and Danny's record with non-lottery picks over the past decade has been nothing short of a disgrace. Maybe if he had done the non-******ed thing and drafted Gary Harris instead of the weak, lazy James Young, then a noticeable improvement in the second need would have already happened.

A disgrace! Worst guards in the Association! Wasted pick on Rozier!!

Additionally Sullinger and Bradley weren't bad for where they were drafted and Bradley brought in Morris who's been a huge part of this year's run.

Yep, Bradley in 2010 and Sullinger in 2012 were Danny's best picks outside of those he had within the top 7.

Let's see how all those 3-pointers that they love to chuck at home fall on the road. And when they don't fall in, let's see how they adjust their games, if they do.

As I was saying...

Semi-talent Ojelazy: 0-2

Marcus Morris: 1-3

Scary Rozier: 1-4

Marcus notsoSmart: 0-4

Now these are the Smeltics I know and loathe.

Gutless road worriers.

The comeback begins.

Will you be back to own it if the comeback fails?

Building for the next two years should NOT have included re-signing that utterly useless pile of crap Baynes. What a complete feckin waste of precious cap resources.

bad timing prevented the C's from using that $ on julius randle instead.....Baynes is ok......I look at him as a poor man's Jeff Ruland

I would've LOVED seeing Julius (> Marcus Smart) Randle here!

Not sure the Celtics need any draft picks, need to focus on preparing their young'uns for another NBA grind to the playoffs.. FYI here are the Celtics future picks for the next three draft, and Danny has a way of somehow getting more...
