My crazy trip to Denver. Ongoing

so, I’m broke down in Denver, my trucks at the dealership and I’m in a rental Jeep. I go into two stores yesterday. The first one, a guy tells me. “Your a real jerk for wearing a hat like that” but then he grins and it’s all cool. A little talk about hate. They absolutely loathe the pats. I told him we save that kind of hate for the Steelers and Jets.

2 nd store, the lady at the gas station says “ I’m not serving you till you take off that damned hat” I thought she was joking but she was dead serious. So, I say I guess you don’t want me to pay for gas? Cool, see ya losers. She took the money and I told her I’m making a lot of new freinds here lol.

Interesting that. Never had anything more than banter happen as a result of wearing Pats gear on a few trips to that neck of the woods. Trips to Western PA have gone...differently. I'm a gearhead. I bought a classic car that I had to pickup in Homestead PA which is just outside of Pittsburgh. Between my Pats hat, t shirts and truck with a full width Pats decal across the rear window that was an 'interesting' trip.

As strange as it may sound we had a great trip to the Linc in '11. Took some friendly smack but nothing like the over the top BS you might expect as a visiting fan there. Pittsburgh & Miami were among the worst visiting fan experiences we've had, we were within a hair's breadth of violence in Pitt and were verbally threatened with it in the SoFlo swamp lands. On the subject of strange, the best visiting fan experiences I've had have all been in Buffalo of all places.

I've done quite a few trips too. Seen games in San Fran, San Diego, Dallas, several in NJ, Mia, KC, Chi, GB, and several in Buff.

Best way to travel the country IMO. Catch a game and check out a new city.

And I still go to Buffalo I just park on someone's lawn now instead of the parking lot. I actually think the Buffalo trip is pretty fun. Wings and football are enough for me. Can't get enough of Duffs wings but you got to get the one by the stadium there are different Duffs not as good all over town. One is Duffs famous and the other Duffs original or something like that. I'd risk a little trouble in the stadium just for the wings. Not to mention the outcome is usually favorable.

It's an interesting kind of jealousy. Fan bases like the Jets have realized that the pats have purely outclassed them. Steelers fans are more like, "this wasn't our decade of dominance, but we still did pretty good."

Broncos fans are in a delusional, bizarro, in-between world, where they think they have the accolades to say that their franchise is the best of all time....but in the back of their minds, they know they are the annoying little brother off the all time great franchises.

Not to mention the need to distract away from the 98 and 99 cheating "scandals". The fans will run with any story that makes the pats look worse than their 2 phony championships.......and that takes a lot, hence the extra demonizing of Brady/Pats.

It's honestly safer to be a raiders fan here.

Was just playing catch with my son, wearing my Pats' hat...we were on the Greenway - joggers, walkers, dog-walkers. A couple of guys come walking by, pointing at me and saying, "Oh, bad hat! Bad Hat!"

I told them I wear it proudly. They were Eagles fans - and we had a great football discussion. Nothing bad at all. I don't think I've ever had a "bad" experience regarding Pats' gear outside of a stadium.
