Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

So here we are, a week out, and no one has any answers at all to WTF that was all about last week.

Sorry, but simply causing this much aingst is disturbing.

The benching of Butler will linger for many years. If it wasn't disciplinary, as the Pats insist, and he was healthy enough to play, it has to go down as one of the most bone-headed coaching moves of the last few decades.

I guess even BB (absolutely, the greatest football coach I've ever watched) is capable of a Grady Little moment. I don't know how else to explain that travesty from last week.

It still is mindboggling.

Like popovich vs heat (Not having Duncan in cost them the series imho)or gum popping Carroll not running lynch) it happens...

When did Bill vs Bill tape?

neither one of them should have been on him. i’ve said this 100 times. you people who barely watch the rest of the nfl don’t realize agoholor was more of a threat on underneath routes as opposed to the 4 or 5 deep routes jeffery runs.

i have only said this a gazillion times

once chung got concussed they should have moved bademosi to ertz and told him to hammer him at the line. bademosi is clearly superior to richards.

once
chung returned, bademosi should have shifted over to ertz again to do his thing

And a gazillion time you’ve had your head up your ass

Butler would have done better on Agholor than either Chung or bademosi ...... period......end of discussion

it was 7-8 mil per, but he wanted to retire a patriot. bb doesn’t do big years for cbs.

butler never, ever get over it.....obviously

He did 5 for 65 for Gilmore.

And just maybe Richards would have not been on ertz on a couple of plays including a big 3rd down.

And are the Eagles scoring 41 points if the Patriots are tied/leading heading into the 2nd half and able to hold the ball, eat up the clock and keep the Eagle offense/their defense off the field?? Well????
The inability of so many Patriot fans to actually analyze the game within the game is embarrassing!
The in depth analysis from Tune and Deus is "err dey skord tirdy tree points." :p
The reality is the Patriots had over 300 yards of total offense in the 1st half scored only 1 TD and attempted THREE FG's. That is just not good enough for an offense with that firepower. 12 points at halftime, not good enough. Let's say Gost makes his miss and also hits the extra point and they score 16 points at halftime. NOT good enough. When Stephen Gostkowski is scoring as many points as the offense in the 1st half of any game, never mind the Super Bowl, that's NOT good. The bottom line is the offense sputtered in the 1st half, left a lot of points on the field and because of it they were losing by 10 points at halftime.....and that directly impacted how the 2nd half played out.
And you call this kind of subjective hindsight conjecture "in-depth analysis"? You can do that with ANY football game: "Well, if this happened instead the way it should have, then THAT would've happened in the second half an voila! -- a possibly different outcome!" No, you haughty goofball, THE BOTTOM LINE is the Patriots defense didn't do its job.

Not last Sunday we didn't, they were MIA during the SB

I know. I’ve been going back and forth on this. Son days it doesn’t bother me that they looked like a high school team and other days I’m down on this

To be fair however, before the Pats scored a TD with 2 minutes left in the 1st half, the offense had the ball 4 other times, all of which ended inside Philly territory, twice inside their 10, and all they could produce was 2 lousy FGs. That's just unacceptable, plain & simple.

Your lack of reading comprehension is hilarious. It fits nicely with your lack of football knowledge.
When did I ever say the offense blew the FG?? When did I ever say the offense blew the extra point??
What I did say is the Patriot offense got off to their typical slow start, left a lot of points on the field in that first half and that contributed to the loss. Any intelligent football fan would acknowledge that. Guess that's why you can't, eh?? ;)
New England Patriots
2017 NFL Season
Points Scored - 458 or 28.625 per game

Points Scored Super Bowl LII - 33

New England Patriots
2017 NFL Season
Points Allowed - 296 or 18.500 per game

Points Allowed Super Bowl LII - 41

No excuse for a pathetic defensive performance which was more than double the average points allowed during the regular season.

^ Yeah Jordan Richards being in there so much was a mistake. But lets say BB inactivated Butler instead of him riding the bench. Then maybe Branch or Harris would have been active. Would that have made a difference? Hard to say but maybe not much

Agreed. And it was unfortunate that Brady badly underthrew Amendola on that Eagles blown coverage. Amendola was forced to stop to get it. Not all Brady's fault of course but that was a 50 yard gain when it should have been an easy TD. The Pats got zero on that drive with the botched FG... and knowing we lost by a score, that extra 7 points could have changed a lot of things including the outcome.

Yes it would have. I watched the highlights.

Brady really played well. So did the rest of the offense. Special teams and defense sank the game.

Branch and/or Harris = old, slow, useless on special teams....

We have a defense?

The defense rests, your honor
