Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

It occurred to me today that this roasting is what would have happened had we lost the Seattle Super Bowl. His decision not to take a timeout. I can read the posts in my head “he had no faith that Tom Brady would go down and win it!” “He’s lost it! Any idiot knows to call a timeout!” Etc. Etc.

The difference to me he had a chance to try and see if Butler could provide a spark at any point during a 60 minute game and didn’t. I don’t think I’ll ever understand it.
That's because it's an indefensible decision.

Come on. This is some really low effort thinking. Suddenly, Butler (after playing 97% of the snaps throughout the year and 100% of them in the playoffs) becomes braindead on Sunday and can't comprehend the game plan for Philly? We're talking about the same guy who entered SB 49 late in the game as an undrafted rookie.

It's ridiculous! I am surprised people are still defending this crap. Put him in the second half. You have nothing to lose.

Tom would probably wanted butler in the game. That defense wasn't getting stops. Put butler in. You have nothing to lose.
BB doesnt give a **** what Tom wants.

BB felt Malcolm was going to do no better than the other chumps out there.

Check out Reiss article. Its empty but offers another PoV

In which case I would expect people to be grateful for everything that Beluchick and Brady have done, and not the sh.t that has been rained on Belichick since Sunday.
I don’t understand why we should be grateful for Belichick for his past but we should not be grateful for Butler and his past? Butler is the only reason we won the super bowl in 2014. Why should we care anymore about Belichicks past than Belichick cares about the players past contributions?

Some really scary cult of personality stuff going on in this thread with some of you. Belichick made an absolutely horrific decision that cannot be justified. And some simply can't accept it. It's like religious zealotry....tying yourself into knots.

If he really believes that then he is dense!!! He really believes Rowe and bademosi are better options? That's laughable! Those guys ain't any better than butler.

His decision will go down as a WTF moment.

Everything’s going to be ok. Clits are being screwed, belichick staying, Butler resigns and did I mention the clits are being screwed real good?

You actually believe that? The same Butler who Belichick put on Antonio Brown, Beckham, etc. was all of a sudden not better than Jordan Richards.

At this point I'm believing BB made an informed football decision based on the last week of practice and game preparation.

I find it so amazing how people ignore that everyone changes nobody including Belichick is the same person they were a few years ago. It would be a failure to believe that Belichick is the same coach today as he was back in 2002 or 2004. He has become egotistical and petty, which is common in men as the reach the end of their careers. They begin feeling insecure about their capabilities declining and feel the need to overcompensate.

Agholor was one of those guys that took advantage of a missing butler. He was so critical in that drive when it was 33-32. Everything went his way and these scrubs couldn't stop it. You can make a case he was the MVP. Go look at all the td drives by the eagles. All agholor. He wouldn't have it that easy against butler.

What a total and complete crock of ****.

You want to attack BB for making a dumb move fine.

Assailing him with baseless assessments of his place in life is bull ****.

You are just bitter, angry and sad and are looking to throw stones at someone.

Yeah well then he made a terrible decision and we should be concerned about his ability to coach and make the appropriate decisions moving forward. He has clearly lost his grasp of reality.

Yea BB needs to check into Shady Pines......

You've lost your mind.

No I’m not any of those things. Only an insecure prick would make the type of decision Belichick made. He wanted to show the world he had the biggest **** in the room instead he just looks like an idiot.

Possible. Unbending and uncompromising.

As I process this even more, here is what doesn't add up.

MB played 1000 snaps and 78% of of the snaps vs KC (which was a similar offense) . While BB may have thought it was a bad matchup for Malcolm, he doesn't play him AT ALL. ZERO.

Is that rigidity or is something else going on. There were reports of infractions, freelancing, bad practices.

There has to be more to this.

The only thing that is different is that Butler got sick. Because of his illness, he probably didn't practice well. This is the most likely the case, since it would be consistent with what BB told us (football related) and what Butler stated (not parties, drugs, etc). Belichick has every right to sit him if he doesn't understand the game plan (he has told his guys before if you don't know what's going on I can' t play you), but for pete's sake, put him in for a few defensive snaps if your D is getting torched in the Super Bowl. What do you have to lose?

Not playing butler made this defensive scheme look soft. Pretty much vanilla. Richards and Rowe gave up some big plays. No pressure equals even a more bigger disaster with these scrubs in the backfield.

I’ll take Lets Make **** Up for $1000 Alex.
