Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Well butler gives you a much better chance than Rowe and bademosi. Much better player. Bill saw the results blow up in his face!
BB doesn't agree with you. He deemed Malcolm as having a lesser chance of being successful than those two crap asses.

It all comes down to your belief in BB as a football mind and making the right decision.

If you don't, there is ample evidence to support your position

Ninkovich weighs in:

“I mean, if it was discipline, I don’t know if that is the best way to go about it,” Ninkovich said. “You need good players on the field to execute. Bill says it all the time, Bill will say it in interviews, ‘Coaches don’t win games, players do. Coaches lose games.’ At the end of the day, you have to have your best players on the field and you question if Malcolm not being on the field is the best option to win the football game. At the end of the day, it is what it is. That is what happened. It is in history now.”

Ninkovich noted the rest of New England’s defense probably was upset with the puzzling decision.

“I would be pretty angry, I guess, because everyone out there on that field is giving it everything they’ve got and you want the best players with you,” Ninkovich said.

“I don’t know at the end if it would have hurt, or even at halftime, you’re like, ‘Hey, we can’t stop them. Let’s change things up and move guys around. Let’s put Malcolm on somebody and move some people.’ It is what it is. The game is over with. This one definitely hurts and again, I just feel bad for the guys that played in that game because it is a hard fought game to get to and when you get there, it is really unfortunate to not win.”

Note the comment on how it would affect his team mates.

Guess Ninko was just a hot head who hated BB. Right BB nut huggers.

Look, BB wants to bench him for a poor week of practice, fine. But he definitely should’ve been inserted after giving up 22 pts. No ones going to move me off of that stance. And I don’t even think butler had a great season, mediocre at best. But he was definitely the best option coming off the bench once it became obvious that crap gameplan wasn’t going to work.

Butler's our second best corner period! He's talking about practice and not even the game. I would have seen enough after the first half. Start him in the second half. What he did was worse. To me it was personal. Like a vendetta

Normally I’m inclined toward in BB we trust but this one is hard to take.

Tell me about it.

I think BB thought Malcolm would do no better than Rowe or Badman.

So he sat.

Well BB apparently didn't even try at least. The first half was all I needed to see. Butler deserves a chance. If you honestly believe that Rowe and bademosi gives you a better chance than idk what to say. This was a personal vendetta.

Agree.

If it sucks vs the RPO offenses then its needs to be torn up.

The other problem this year was average talent on the front 7.

I think they were far from average. They lacked talent.

That's Dumb, of course great coaches have great players, it' been that way since they played with leather helmets. It's what you do with those players that separates you from the pack.

I'm just saying that when it comes to who gets the most credit, it should be Tom. Tom put the Patriots over the hump. You put him on a team with a good defense like the vikings, jaguars and eagles and they'd be a dynasty. He'd make it work no matter what system he would have played in. This whole Bill makes Tom is a total fallacy.

I wouldn't either, but there should be a check somewhere. Maybe a front office person who Belichick has to run everything by and if something controversial comes up a mandated coaches meeting. That way Belichick can't just do this last minute and catch everyone off guard.

To me it feels like he tried it two weeks ago and Patricia and other coaches talked him down. Then this week he felt the same, and sprung it on everyone day of so he couldn't be talked out of it, and then told people just before the game when nothing could be done about it and nobody had the luxury of bugging the head coach right before the Super Bowl.
As disappointed as I am in Bill, I disagree. A big part of our success has to do with Bill making the decisions. Having a GM or front office person blocking decisions would be a terrible path to go down. He typically has very good judgement except cases like this and Welker. Which both turned out to be a disaster.

Calls for him to be fired are ridiculous too. But he has some serious explaining to do to his players and probably coaches too.

Hopefully we can move on in 2018 and Belichick learns from his mistake. We can and should be back in the Super Bowl before a Brady retirement.

Best Trolling thread in a while...

Doubtful that the truth will ever come out on this story. It just feels like we are all being lied to by everyone involved and it’s very strange.

In practice lol. He went off practice if that's true. Butler's a competitor. What's worse is that butler thought he would start until BB decided to pull a fast one on him.

How about this scenario, sometime less than 90 minutes before the game Butler got into an argument with Steve Belichick- the safeties coach. Maybe lit into him about going safety heavy and question both the coaching of that group and the play. Bill would defend his son against anyone and that might have been it. It was after the inactive list had been made so they could not de-activate him. So they used him as a the man of last resort.
