Rumors that the XFL might come back

It will never work in today's society, and it didn't work 15 years ago either.

The NFL 100% sucks ass right now. Offer Belichick a Goodell sized contract to be the XFL commissioner to make a version of professional football that doesn't suck
No. Don’t do that.

EDIT: And McMahon’s ego would never let him do something like that.

The NFL has done everything possible to alienate their fans short of hiring goons to walk around in the stands and hit random fans in the back of the head with a baseball bat.

Clearly, there's a demand for professional football but the sport has become insufferable under Goodell. A rival league is the only solution I can think of.

One under McMahon will fail miserably. Again.

LOL! Haven't the WWE's TV ratings gone from like 10 million in the late 90s to like 2 million today? You think the solution is a league run by a guy who is more out of touch than Goodell?

I ******* loved the XFL.

If they have a team in New England, I might watch a game, if I can get there before the league folds. I don't believe in ruling things out sight unseen. It's probably not going to work long term but it may serve as a kick in the butt to force the NFL to fix its crap.

Bring back the USFL! (I saw the Breakers play as a kid.)

Who was that black QB who before the season was a HS coach and was pretty good before he got hurt?

I had to look it up. John Walton. I never would have come up with it on my own.

I'm in. This is great!

This is a great idea! When they are done with that, they should start a VHS rental business and a grocery delivery company.

I wouldn't mind seeing another football league, but not the XFL.

There was always a whiff of WWE in the background, you could never tell if it was real or staged. Changing rules mid-season didn't really help either.

I'd like to see NFL Europa or something similar come back. It doesn't have to be in Europe, but the league should sponsor a developmental league. By the time they killed it, it had lost around $16M a year, or around $500K per team. Basically, for the price of one player, they could have had the opportunity to develop a lot of young players.

Kurt Warner got his start there. So did Adam Vinatieri. James Harrison bounced around a bit, but really got a chance to play and develop during his NFL Europa stint. David Akers, Lawrence Tynes, and Dante Hall are some of the STers that also got opportunities in the league, as did Jake Delhomme.

It would be nice for the league to give opportunities for young players to get playing time. It could run after the Super Bowl, giving players a chance to showcase their skills while teams could fill holes in their roster prior to the draft. Young guys could solidify their spots on the roster potentially before the teams abandon hope and draft their replacements. It fills some of the dead time between the end of the season and the start of FA.
