It's outrageously bad call like this that happen to all teams that makes fans suspect the fix is in. A booth mechanism to overrule obviously bogus calls is needed.

That was a an egregioius "missed" call. Does not instill confidence.

The Lions would approve

The crazy thing about this play was, that as the video that AtomicDawg posted shows, that it was called DPI right away. Then the officials conferred and picked up the flag. They didn't "miss" it. They called it, then changed their minds.

We saw something similar in the Saints game 2 weeks ago, when the officials initially threw a flag for OPI, but then discussed it and determined it was legal because the contact took place with 1 yard of the LOS. I'm not aware of any exception to the DPI rule where you can wrap both arms around a receiver 20 yards down field.

Well, you're not getting away with one this week Luke! Who's the ref for this game anyway?

That's what drove me crazy about that game, and really made me question for a while what I was watching on Sundays.

What drove me crazier about this non-call was response from the officiating office afterward. They had the balls to claim that it was called properly. Everybody knew that was a blown call... except the referees.

We won't have to worry about it this time, the Pats are about to pound you into dust.

Nothing angered me more than the call itself, which may have cost NE the game.... but I also remember being especially upset at the way the referees slithered off the field once they picked up the flag. Referees normally give long winded explanations but not in this case. Here it was like they had the meter running on their taxi.

Bovada had the Pats as the away underdog, IIRC. I know for a fact I lost 50$ on what I assured myself was easy money.

I remember how upsetting that finish was. It really sucked.

Not only was the finish upsetting, IIRC, this game was pretty much the reason the Pats couldn't get homefield advantage that season.
