I love it when teams make excuses.

“I think we beat them,” Bell said when asked how the game would have transpired had he been at full strength. “I think the first time we played them in the beginning of the year, we kind of gave that game away. We were playing with our backup quarterback. We didn’t even have Ben (Roethlisberger). I think when we were playing them in the AFC Championship Game, when I was out there, I wasn’t feeling well at all.

Le’Veon Bell Vows Steelers Would’ve Beaten Patriots If He Was Healthy

Of course they would have, why Bell would have run for 500 yards and then Brown would have received for another 500.... If only....

Whatever helps him sleep better... I hope his coaches have the same delusional mentality (and knowing Tomlin they probably do).

If I was healthy our zone defense would have been more effective.

I said this before but it bears repeating. After we beat them, Steelers fans on the other boards (as copied here) showed they just didn't understand football. They kept saying they had the best RB and best WR, and one of the best QBs, so they couldn't comprehend how they lost to us?

They live in a fantasy football mentality. They don't understand the game and don't read enough about why the Patriots are successful. They get caught up in their 'name' players and don't go in more detail than that. It's hilarious, but it's also sad. Steelers fans especially are guilty of this.

With this quote, Bell shows that he has the same mentality. He doesn't understand why his team lost. Hell, Tomlin still probably doesn't understand. Perfect personnel for this fan-base.

Bell and Brown are both going to be taking up significant cap space for the Steelers next year after respectively being franchised and signing a huge deal. Steelers fans are happy, but that's probably not a good thing for the Steelers who will struggle once again with depth and 'middle class' players. My guess is that Pittsburgh takes a step back next year as Big Ben continues to age.
