Auf Wiedersehen, Vollmer...

He will be missed, but it's not a big surprise. Have seen that he may also retire instead of an outright release.

Anyone know the cap savings offhand?

May be best to just retire at this point. I wish him luck whatever he decides. He had overall a very good career here and played very well in SB49.
Agreed on all counts.

If I told you two years ago that Vollmer would be retiring or being cut and we would be cool with it because Cannon was playing great, would you believe me, or would you have me institutionalized?

Don't get ****y, this doesn't mean you're not going to eventually get institutionalized.

The latter, but ,what a player Cannon has become. I love having Scar back

Vollmer's departure makes stronger the case that drafting a 4-position OLman such as Dorian Johnson or Dion Dawkins at 32 isn't as far-fetched as it might've first sounded. It doesn't appear that either of them will be available at 64.

Danke schoen, Herr Vollmer!!!

Prost!!!!

Or maybe you are in an institution and don't even know it! Dun dun dun! However if that thought does worry you don't be concerned. There are several ways to verify you are actually living in reality and not your head.

Yeah, this isn't really a shocker. I kind of saw the writing on the wall watching that video he did with TB12. Dude looked skinny as heck here.

Good player but it was pretty obvious they would let him go. Best of luck to him.

Hope he has enough money and sense to retire. Thanks for a nice career.

This was pretty much a foregone conclusion the moment Cannon got his extension, but all the best to him. If this is the end of his career, then he had a great run, seemed like a great locker room guy as well. Plus I'll miss being able to use him as an easy reason why German football fans should root for the Patriots; was able to make Pats fans out of a few that way.

We shall have to see what the future holds for seabass

One of my favourite players simply because he came around when we really needed a tackle. I never understood why they moved him to the right because he was our best left tackle.

Injuries are the only thing that kept him from being a perennial pro bowler.

That brings Pats to 60+ million in cap space in 2017...

That brings Pats to 95+ million in cap space in 2018....

Lots of cash to spend wisely and to keep this team competitive..

Umm.. Vollmer's contract ended at the end of the 2016 season.. The Pats chose not to toll his contract (meaning they let it lapse) even though Vollmer spent the entire year on the PUP.

So why is it being reported now that he's "being released"??
