I'll go out on a limb with the worst...

Uurrrrghh...that one hurt for oh about 86 years. But the best? I'll offer up an unlikely candidate... Fairbanks dealing Plunkett for a bevy of first round picks.

(Turned into Pete Brock, Tim Fox, Ray Clay, and Horace Ivory... maybe somebody else?)

I now prepare to be embarrassed by the presentation of an obvious winner that bypassed the weakened synapses of my decrepit old brain. LOL

The Varitek, Derek Lowe Trade for Slocumb is usually sited as the best.

For the Sox, I think I'd go with the Nomar trade which got them Mink & Orlando Cabrera and eventually the 2004 WS

Totally forgot BB was traded here. If Randy Moss was traded here.... that's a big one.

Okay... I'm embarrassed. LOL

Well, that was for a coach. A player trade....Hmmm...i'll say it was the Corey Dillon trade as it led SB 39 title.

Espo trade
Martinez trade
Lowe trade
DJ trade
Parrish/McHale trade

Pretty damned good ones to start with, IMO
Forgot about Pedro. That one could be the best.
