Could be great news! Not sure if they're officially off though as PUP players CAN participate in walkthroughs

Edit: Per Breer

Just to clarify: The players on the PUP are allowed to be on the field at a walkthrough, and remain on the list. Were this a normal session, they would have to be removed from the PUP.

Oh well, also according to Breer, Stallworth is getting first team reps and appears in good form.

Re: Stallworth, Jackson, & Brown off PUP??

Stallworth was said to be running well last week, I think he'll be unPUPed real soon. This offense is going to be sick, f*cking sick, with Moss, Stallworth and Welker added.

Reiss actually made one gaffe with the attendance today:

Injured safety Rashad Baker, who is also in uniform, is making his first appearance of camp.

Baker was actually on the field for the very first practice.

That was actually posted by Christopher Gasper.

I'd hate to see Stallworth cut for lack of participation in August, and the sheer # of receivers.

Welker, Moss, Gaffney, Caldwell, Troy, Washington, Stallworth

Man, there's a tough cut or 2 from this group.
Caldwell has the year in the system and was their top receiver last year.
But Gaffney I think can be as good or better after coming on at the end of last season, and maybe better overall talent.
Kelley Washington has a lot of untapped talent, but maybe too much competition for him to make it.
If ONLY Stallworth can get, and stay healthy...I think his best years are ahead of him. Maybe a few 1000 yard seasons, hopefully with the Patriots.

Then there's Chad Jackson...for another topic.

It'll be about time with Stallworth. It'd be nice to see him practice before our first preseason game.

And then we can light up the Bucs for a quarter.

Well that's not going to happen...so don't worry about it

Stallworth to come off PUP
Posted by Albert Breer at 6:55 pm

Just got off the field, and Patriot newcomer Donte’ Stallworth said he’d practice tomorrow, which would mean coming off the PUP, provided the two sessions aren’t the team’s fourth and fifth walkthroughs in nine days. Stallworth actually said that he found out he was on the list on the eve of training camp, when a friend of his called to tell him.

We’ll be back in a bit with more from practice.

Woooooooo hooo!

When asked if he was coming off PUP Stallworth's answer was "I suppose so."

Boy that get;s me in the mood for football when I hear good news like that.

And there just so happens to be a game tonight.

I was there tonight and for the first time (even thought is was slow pace) we saw sallworth, Moss, and Welker running routes at the same time, it also featured Watson and faulk who was in the backfield and sread wide. If noting else it was nice to see.

If stallworth starts to get some real work tommorow that would be great. Man is the itch really starting to get unbearable (one month to go).

Stallworth ready
By Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff

"The Patriots haven't announced anything officially, but wide receiver Donte' Stallworth said he would return to practicing tomorrow, which would take him off the physically unable to perform list, which he has been on since the start of camp.

Stallworth was in uniform today for the team's light walkthrough and ran with the first team. He looked unhindered.

Several PUPers are in uniform. Wide receivers Troy Brown, Donte' Stallworth and Chad Jackson are all in uniform. Injured safety Rashad Baker, who is also in uniform, is making his first appearance since the first practice of camp on July 27.

Injured tight ends Kyle Brady and Garrett Mills are also present and in uniform, so is linebacker Adalius Thomas, who missed Friday's walkthrough."

FOXBOROUGH -- Tight end Kyle Brady was in uniform and back at practice yesterday for the first time since July 28, when he left a session early with an unspecified injury. Attach an asterisk to Brady's return, though, as the team only went through a light walkthrough and almost the entire team, including players on the physically unable to perform list, was in uniform.

That's not exactly correct, as Brady missed his first practice on 7/29 AM but returned for the 7/29 PM walkthrough:

He missed every practice after that until last night's.

I am a little unclear on how this effects our team numbers. When Stallworth comes off of the PUP (or any of the other receivers) does that mean we need to cut someone else?

No, PUP active count as well...so there is no need for any cuts

Based on that, why even put them on the PUP? There doesn't seem to be any advantage to it.
