CHFF: Tarik Glenn's Departure Is BIG (as is he)

Of course, the Colts could make the passing game an even BIGGER focus and use it to try and open up the run, but that didn't work to well for the Pats in 2002 or 2005. And it hasn't worked to well for many teams who've tried to do that.
Maybe they'll prove me wrong but a balls out passing game with young players at OT likely means either more hits on the QB or keeping more help back for the OL which makes their 3 WR / 1 TE offense more difficult. We'll see soon but I don't think this will end well for the Colts.

Pro Football Talk says it's a done deal :

"Even as some of the assorted sock puppets continue to report (and you know who you are) that the Colts are still trying to persuade left tackle Tarik Glenn to change his mind about retiring, the door to a return is slammed shut.

Per a league source, the Colts already have placed Glenn on reserve/retired list, which means that he cannot play at all in 2007, for any team."

Just checked PFT. They now say they were incorrect and Glenn can return any time before Nov. 30. So there's still a chance he's just holding out for $ and skipping 2 a days.

Wow, shocking if true. Glenn's only 31. Still, not sure it's that significant a loss. I've never been that impressed with the Colts O-line. Peyton's so good that he makes them look better than they are.

Before reading the next 12+ posts, I have to agree. It seems to me that Peyton has built his game based on compensating for his line. When he had a "solid" line, he won the SB. He's very good, good enough to succeed with an avg. line at best. In other words, he became elite because he had the talent AND because he had to.

I think, though, that a perceived accepted reliance on a standard, populated by talented linemen, leads to complacency. Now depleted, he may just be in for a royal surprise.

Those splits seconds he became accustomed to, etc...

Why I should read all posts before I reply...
