They only need 2 or 3 big name players and let the rest of the players be highly educated guys, and guys who will pour over it. Big Ben was on Mike & Mike yesterday morning talking about how Charlie Batch went through and read the entire proposal last time and then he sat down the entire team and went over EVERYTHING with them.

Big Ben said that half the guys didn't know what to make of it and he was confused as well, so he just stood up and said "Chuck, would you agree to this?" and Batch said no. So the entire team voted no together on it, because Batch did his homework and went through the process of it.

Every team needs a handful of guys like this.

If they just listen to their lawyers, people like you burn them for not doing a better job looking out for their own interests. If they read the CBA and form their own conclusions, those same people claim they're unqualified idiots for even trying. Conclusion: there's a group of people who will find something to complain about no matter what.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Charlie Batches of the world aren't the only ones reading it. The PA clearly has its own lawyers. Buy yes, in addition to that there should be players reading the thing and relating it to their fellow players. How could that possibly be a negative? The stakes are too high not to read it.

And FWIW, the Steelers were the one team that voted against the last CBA, so they were doing something right when nobody else was.
