What happens when AS comes back?

So that being said, what happens to Merriweather? If he is as all early indications from camp show...to be the real deal...what happens?

Does he become our starting FS?

Or is he relegated to nickel corner duties alone?

It'll be a nice problem to have.

Samuel and Hobbs are the starting CB. Meriweather and Wilson will move in and out while competing with Gay and James in Nickel and Dime situations.

I think the base case is that Meriweather sees spot duty at various roles, then settles into something more stable after the first other DB gets injured.

My gut feeling says that Wilson is the one fighting for time in various spots a few weeks into the season and Meriweather is the starting Safety with Harrison. Although I put some stock into Wilson having a big year due to impending UFA, I just think Meriweather will prove to be better.

I going to post about the same thing. Wilson needs to show he's back to where he was early in his career and hopefully with Harrison being back, and again, hopefully back to his old self. The Pats use 5 DB's a lot so Brandon should see plenty of playing time whether he's one of the starter's or not. Recall BB wanted to try a 3 safety D backfiled a few years back. But Wilson needs to show he can make plays again. If Brandon starts doing that as the 5th DB and Wilson isn't, than Brandon may end up starting FS at some point in the season.

They will not just hand him a spot..sorry that will not happen in any BB camp.
I guess this all depends on when he comes back and what the level is of teh starting CBs. If it is sooner rather than later, he will have a better shot at it. If later and the positions are more established a LOT harder. But basically it will be that he will compete for a position.

He may be small but I was really impressed with some of the camp vdeo I saw from him this weekend. One in particular where he seemed to be playing gunner and absolutely decimated and man-handled the guy trying to block him. He's wicked physical and seems to relish contact. That can be good and bad for a fellow his size but I think we all knew that's what he was all about coming out of the U.

I think he'll add a few more pounds too.
