OT: Cam Newton & the race card

to be serious about this for a minute, what I think is probably the most obnoxious aspect of this kind of thing is that cam is a very successful millionaire --- he's not being victimized by his skintone.
but somewhere out there regular working people ARE + when some guy complains about getting passed over for promotion it'll be like the boy who cried wolf, where his white audience will just pigeonhole him as another whiner

Everyone walking this Earth harbors bias. I don't see bias as a huge issue....and I'll welcome the red "X"!

I try not to view these issues with emotion as I accept that humans change very slowly whether we like it or not. At least American men don't tell their women to walk 3 steps behind them! And if they do, they aren't very American

But 60 years ago........

That is the dilemma. Cam may truly feel that there is a white biased against him and white people may truly feel that he is full of shyt.

But 60 years ago........

Just a mere 100 years ago, the world was barbaric. Pretty much no one owned a car, phone, washing machine, television, and on and on.

That's less than 2 lifetimes ago. I think some people look around at the technological advances we've made and believe they should be matched by equal advances in culture. But that is wrong thinking. Humans aren't machines with chips that can be upgraded.

nah, I don't think that's true at all.

there's a lot of superracist black ppl out there who have convinced themselves that it's impossible to be black + racist by definition.
Ok, the majority of rational, intelligent ppl know if they're racist or not! I guess they're the minority these days...

But do they know if they are prejudice?

We're all prejudice in some regard if we're honest with ourselves. I think the key is to be aware of that.

I used to be way nicer to African Americans I just met than I'd be to a Caucasian. Then I realized I was wrong to act like that.

I had to look at why I'd do such a thing

Wrong, if Brady did something like that, I'd be ashamed, as would 99% of the fan base.
Keep telling yourself that. It won't make it true.

Ironically, technical advances made have played a major part in the reversion of our culture. Every person has the potential to be great, but our culture has been purposefully modified to create self-entitled, desensitized super consumers that lack empathy and compassion. Such people are far more easily controlled and are so divided that they don't work together in large enough groups to do anything about it.

Ok genius, whatever you say. You must be right. FML. [emoji53]
See, you have to learn the items in the "you're racist and you don't know it" argumentative toolkit.

Comments like "Keep telling yourself that..." is a big one. It's really best in person, of course, so the person saying it can chuckle knowingly when they say it, maybe shake their head a little bit. Loses a little something on a message board.

Or there's the ever popular "and why do you think that is?" Tool.

I once attempted to have a discussion with a Sanders supporter (not that I'm against him) and he kept asking me a thousand "Why's". So I asked him if he had an opinion and if so, share it. You don't have the right to grill others for their opinion UNLESS you're willing to share yours.

And you better have an opinion of your own, not some group opinion!

That's the way discussions work ya know!

Please cite some of the loads that read like a KKK site.
Oh, there are plenty. If I have to hunt them down for you, then you've got your head in the sand. How about this? You go back and cite those you don't think are racist. Honestly, I'm not some wildly liberal wingbat, but if you can honestly review the 400 some odd posts here and tell me that many of them aren't blatantly racist in nature, then you're either outright lying or you're delusional.

List a few.

Nope. You list them. This should help, but I'm guessing it's already on your speed dial: 1-800-293-5781.

You think Aluminum seats is racists?

Do you think people throw out the racists tag a little too quickly these days? Just curious.
