I was under the impression that a lot of the scouting department "double dip" with coaching to help ingrain the system and the type players likely to succeed in it.

I agree, except to the extent that some of the scouts have jobs that rarely take them to Foxborough. So senior personnel guys may actually do more coaching than junior ones.

I do wonder how many FTEs of coaching that amounts to, however. Probably not a lot.

I just wish they would blitz more ...
That's just selfish on my part ...
they make the right calls I just want to see hell unleashed more often with these players.

Not me. Win with the Blitz; Die with the Blitz. Rex Ryan's Defenses are proof of that. BB prosaic "fundamentaly sound" methods end up giving up fewer points than all the fancy Blitzes the blitz happy Coaches create. "Bend but Don't Break" ends up the superior choice in the only measure that really counts... Points Allowed.

It may not be as stimulating but it is the most effective defensive coaching yet developed.

This is most evident against the "running" QBs. High percentage blitz teams don't change their approach.

The Patriots inevitably play contain with occasional extra rushers (usually from the middle or blind side). When was the last time a running QB went "wild" (100-150 yds by a QB) on a BB coached team? It may have happened, but not a lot.

I gave the defense coaches some props the other day in a thread ...

Tom must read the forum ............ jk.

I think what they do is amazing ... so many different packages and they never look confused at all. I wonder if we can find out how many defense time outs have been called due to confusion or time running low to switch the package ... I'm not sure I saw any this year. Not to take anything away from the offense coaches ... I'm just more amazed by the defense cohesion.

He does. In fact, he's a defensive back.
